Update dang those dealerships

Roller coaster of unexplainable. So first and foremost I LOVE my Mach E .. but I was fully ill prepared for the tough mudder that is the final step of securing the vehicle.

-Friday was the day it all started.

-Big chunk of money down

-Quoted $16,500 for trade

-Excellent credit

-No debt

-Asked for the ford finance program

—The staff was all smiles

I was there from about 10:30 until 6 pm - giddy with anticipation, first

Agreed to the one warranty plan because honestly they sold it like I would die without it ..

Signed via tablet - big mistake - numerous times due to mistakes

They told me I couldn’t use my pre approved x plan pricing due to inventory..
  1. Reduced my trade to $15k
  2. Bumped the rate to 4.9 vs lower rates from ford
  3. Improperly added a balance owed from my fully paid off Fusion
  4. Told me it would all get taken off at the end
Saturday-Sunday no docs arrive I am notified that they needed a signature on something they missed ..

Monday I ask for my docs

Here goes the insane part

So I should have balance owing of under $20k
  1. The sales agreement shows just under $30k
  2. They added $9k of added items I didn’t agree to
  3. Charged me for window tinting that never happened
  4. Doc fees that totaled $700 when I had x plan
  5. Added balance from paid off loan
  6. And then didn’t take off the trade until after they tried to tax me for all those things
Went to dealership and it has been ugly ever since

Just as a person who is pretty green to all this and who thought “well since I preordered this I’ll be treated well” .. I recommend putting ur mind in beast mode and check each and every single space

I am still dealing with rate because they promised to match my bank rate .. they are pushing back on all the incentives which are small rebates .,

They finally did have to admit that I was eligible for X plan and begrudgingly they adjusted that but still not sure it met the true X plan price ..

They removed the $400 tint that was just totally bogus

Removed $9851 of warranty stuff that was not even Ford it was there dealership product so STRAIGHT money in their pocket

Removed the doc fee to $100

I still lost about $2k on the trade

And hours of sleep

Stressful going toe to toe with car salesman who literally treated me as if I was completely stupid ..

Anyway sorry for the rant

Just sharing to anyone to keep diligent through the last steps or you likely will be taken advantage of with fees etc.

This salesman actually told me “we are not Ford we are a vendor.. and your lucky we didn’t amend your price by $10k”

I never thought I’d need to bring a man to a car deal in 2022 but as far as life has come I feel like the experience I had was from the 1940s ..

For reference 4 years ago I bought my fusion and it was breezy good and I never felt nervous.

I feel so nervous I won’t even go back to that dealership even to remedy the inspection.. I am terrified of them I have no trust at all and it stinks to feel like that.

If you ask them I’m sure they’d think I was lucky if you ask me I’d say Ford really needs to figure out how people can do final purchase of their cars without being harassed, bullying, fear and intimidation.

Be your own advocate if you think they aren’t truthful check it out .. I hate to say it but sadly I’m not sure they can be trusted and quite frankly they have an interest in making people not purchase ordered ford cars because they know they can Jack up the pricing without oversight or regulations.

I do absolutely love the car I just hate this process at the end ..

Yeah, I have bought 3 new cars in my life, 2 went fairly smooth but one was a giant mess. Hopefully fords changes with the EVs in 2024 straighten this whole dealer mess out.

You would have probably ended up worse. They didn't do this to you because of your gender, or the fact that you didn't have a man with you. They screw everyone equally and there's plenty of men on here that have the same or worse stories. Search "ADM" on this forum and you'll see multiple horror stories.

Yeah, the one time I had issues, everything was going smooth then when I read through the paperwork the price was not what we had agreed to. Fortunately I had an email with the price, it then went to the supervisor on duty who told me they couldn't sell it for that price.

This is when I lost it, my wife was pregnant and we had driven a hour to buy this car. I started yelling at him and told him to get someone who can fix this. Subsequently they called the offduty manager who told them to sell the car at the price they agreed to in the email he was too busy to deal with it. When the finance guy then tried to upsell me on stuff I told him I am not buying anything else from you guys after what you put me and my wife through.

After that experience, and the experience before that with dealers trying to sell me lower specced cars as higher specced ones (trying to pull a fast one via email). I learned to never trust any car dealer and make sure to triple check paperwork.

Oh no..what a nightmare...I too am from AZ and wanted to know who the dealer is
I hesitate to call them out until this transaction completes I will be honest I am not comfortable with them at all and as crappy as the deal went it make me crazy knowing how much of my data they have on printers and trash cans all over that place

maybe I’m just being dramatic but it wasn’t a good feeling at all ..

It’s interesting that you say that because truly that seems to be the case .. which stinks because I have to imagine somewhere things are not so shady but then again I’m just not savvy enough to know
This whole thing opened my eyes a LOT tho because I went in feeling confident and my heart dropped when I saw the docs

had I not been focused on the bottom line price I’d have been taken for real .. because it’s all so exciting

that honeymoon ends when you decide not to get all the addons
Also I just learned that you can purchase warranty items from most credit unions I didn’t know that

the warranty they sell at dealership is totally thier product not endorsed by FORD WHATSOEVER

For the warranty the best one to get is one of the dealerships online that sell the ford warranty at a good price.

One thing to consider is if this is going to be more than a 3 or 4 year car though with the way EVs are you might wanna upgrade in that timeframe

Hoping for good results for you. Over many years I have only experienced intimidation once With an RV, and like you said, just trying to get through it and find another good dealership later. It’s like walking back into time…especially with American cars.

it’s so disappointing to know that Ford does not care about expectations and promises at their dealers. Someone from the company needs to demand training for ‘first class service‘ if they expect to compete with the higher end cars. so far our ford dealer has been good, although we haven’t been in for any updates or mishaps Yet. But the sale part was great.

hope this goes by fast for you and you can get back to the enjoyment part. It shouldn’t have happened at all. Audis, MBs and Porsche people have more class. We’ve read a lot of posts like this. I agree, some are nasty in hopes of getting you to leave the car there and then they make more money off another . You did well!

That sucks. I was prepared to go to war with my dealer on purchase day if necessary. Outside financing and cash at the ready. Don't mention that ahead of time. It helps to be very upfront with them before the car arrives "I do not want and will not be paying for any add ons, don't bother changing my mind, I am paying MSRP as agreed previously, let's make this a quick sign and go transaction". Ultimately they were nice about it, they did need an extra day to figure out Ford Options.

But the process needs to be much more transparent.

Amy, you need to make sure you fill out the survey you get about a week after purchase and give the dealer an honest rating for the crap they put you through. Do not give them 5-stars.

I’ll see if I am brace enough truly i just don’t feel like it’s safe to be honest they have all my info and so it’s just nervous to me if I do a poor review I’ll likely get retaliation

i had to tell them to stop texting me and do all communication via email ..

I am very cautious and if I have time I’ll look them up in the public records search something tells me it’s likely these guys aren’t squeaky clean

Sad to say, but that's if she gets the survey. Dealers are really good at making sure customers with problems during the purchase process don't get surveys.

Amy, once the dust settles and everything is finalized, and whether or not you get the survey, I recommend you file a complaint with Ford. It won't fix anything for you, but it might help to improve things in the future.

Unfortunately that's what they're banking on. But reviews/yelp etc. are the only way to alert Ford (if they care) and to let others know to avoid the place. Everything about your experience sounds super shady and if you're simply posting your experience/the truth, they have nothing to complain about.

The dealership model just has to go. But it's as entrenched in our society as fossil fuels. This post is a good reminder for folks though. My last experience was nothing like yours but I still had to "remind" my dealer that I had price protection, x-plan and to deduct my $500 deposit.

Should have just sold the car yourself to an online platform they will come pick it up. Don't give them the satisfaction. Used cars are at an all time high.
