I think when people pay 50, 60 70K for a car they expect some quality and support from the manufacturer. The MME probably needed another year of testing before releasing to production.

These are early adopter issues. There are plenty of good dealers out there that still care about customers. I ran into one when my MME died at 116 degrees in El Centro CA. They went above and beyond to help me and I didnt buy my car from the.

Call Ford and say "I would like to be connected to the BEV team".

You should have a loaner. And, Ford should make reimburse you for payments.
Yes, knowing how I have been treated/mistreated by local stealership, Ford's customer relationships (CR) agreed to reimburse me all rental costs from Day 1. I just had to go to the airport to pick up a car every week.

Later when I requested to have two-week rentals, Ford kindly agreed as well, so I have to go to the airport every two weeks.... until my MME gets fixed or the local stealership offers me a loaner in late October. I have not many complaints about this arrangement.

Previously when Ford's CR called my local stealership for status updates, she was told my MME had been fixed and driven away. I showed the GPS to Ford's CR to prove that my MME was still at the stealership. CR requested to talk directly with the local stealership's manager instead. That's how we interacted with the local stealership.

I believe Ford's CR has done its best to help, but there are many things that even Ford Corporate cannot change

As others have said, a forum is a place for enthusiasts, but also a place for people with issues to get answers. So you’re going to see… a lot of issues.

The MME is almost flawless mechanically. The software leaves a lot to be desired. Still a lot of bugs. If people aren’t seeing those bugs, they’re either not using PAAK, or they’re not looking very closely.

My biggest issues, which are quite common:

1. PAAK is flakey. It works to start the car about 95% of the time, but it is a lot less reliable in waking up the car upon approach to unlock the doors for me. About 20% of the time I have stand around like a doofus for 5-10 seconds repeatedly pressing the door button waiting for the damned car to wake up.

2. It is IMPOSSIBLE to deactivate the interior alarm motion sensors. So if you’ve got a dog or a kid or anything that moves that wants to sit in your car while you run a quick errand, and you take your key with you and the car locks, better put duct tape over those sensors. It pisses me off that Ford has known about this for over a year and refuses to fix it.

3. Interface is still too laggy and clunky. Adjusting things like temp, or opening the rear hatch from inside, can be a pain due to the lag.

Your observations are right on.

Dealerships are franchisees of Ford. They are not owned by Ford. Ford can only make them do so much, and then it's up to you - the consumer - to act. Pick another dealer. Leave bad online reviews.

There are 14,000 members of the forum. The vast majority are happy and don't have issues worth mentioning. Nobody posts "everything's good" every few days, so you see a skewed perspective.

Negative posts about dealership… have you never bought a car before? Lmao. The good dealerships are the outliers. That said my dealer was great. Couple emails to make the order. Only set foot in the dealership once to pick up the car. I never gave them a chance to screw it up. I’ve also never been back lol.
As for the software issues. Ford isn’t a software company and it shows big time. They seem to create new bugs every time they try to fix something. The infotainment system is severely underpowered. They really need to
contract that out to Google or apple.

Every car has their issues, and most people tend to just live with them knowing it is what it is. With OTA updates people now expect changes, and expect them immediately. This is a double edge sword. Issues can be fixed quickly. You can also modify features base on user feedback but with that comes more complaints from the people that liked it the old way (insert this last garbage brake update). But the biggest issue with OTA is having a subpar software team that can’t quite seem to figure it out.

My dealer was fine (would have been great if they accepted X-plan). No games, no ADM, low doc fee, great communication. ??

My issues were not with my car, but with the FordPass app (FP) and FordPass support Ford’s login servers recognized my email address so I could create an account and log into the FP app., But when they went to authenticate my PaaK, some of the functions did not work. I deleted and re-created so many PaaKs one day that I was locked out of the FP servers. One of the times I was on the phone with FP support the tech insisted that I delete my PaaK even though I repeatedly told him that I did not have a physical key and I was not home. He got a bit angry and told me to “Just do it.” When He told me to create a new PaaK (which I had already done thousands of times) and I asked him how because Idon’t have a key he hung up on me. ?? A server-side software update fixed this particular email address issue back in March. ??

My other issues are all minor. Kick to Open liftgate is hit or miss, so I just use the butttons. Sometimes it takes a second or two for the car to recognize my phone. Sometimes the car lets me in and thinks it can’t see a key. Nothing to worry about. Some of my issues are because I was tinkering with the car. Nothing to see here, move on. ??

My only real issue hasn’t happened yet, and that’s a blown HVBJB. That’s not a matter of if, but when. It’s not beefy enough for a 4X, so it’s super under-spec for a GT-PE. I am driving sedately right now, mostly using the ACC to get up to speed, feathering the throttle on regen to reduce the amount pushed back into the battery, etc. when supply of HVBJBs and a couple of other factors align, I’m gonna blow the thing up by driving normally so I can get the new design. ??

Some people seem to post this response whenever this topic comes up.

Then I like to look at their post history and you see the ACTUAL issues that particular poster had.

“Vast majority?” Highly disagree.

From what I’ve seen, the opposite is true. It’s extremely rare that someone here hasn’t at least had something “go wrong.”

That said, while we are using the term “vast majority…….” The vast majority of things that go wrong are bugs and annoyances, not something that keeps you from driving the car.

Outside of the complete failure (HVJB), the car seems good, but with lots of annoyances.

Here is my list of issues (and almost all seem very common). But none stopped me from driving, and almost all are fixed with updates and almost all have gone away!:

Headlight switch (lights stay on about 3x/mo)

Profile issue (many times but fixed now)

Memory seat issue (many times)

Parking sensor screen issue (sometimes that screen doesn’t go away until you restart)

Volume control fault (once)

Charge fault (happened many times)

Recall

Blind spot system fault (happened once)

Cross traffic system fault (happened once)

Reverse brake assist not available (happened once)

Driver selectable system fault Service required. (Happened once)

Suspension fault speed limited to 80 mph (happened once)

Auto ac blower low speed after starting (have to hit the auto button again even if 95 degrees outside)

Screen slow loading (takes almost 2 minutes to fully load sometimes).

5 second bug.

Still love the car though.

You can't satisfy everyone. Some will make a huge issue out of nothing, others will gloss over the biggest issue. You really have to decide yourself. I find most of the time fan forums don't really help overall, it's more for entertainment than anything.

We purchased ours last November. It's our only car with 8,000 miles on it since new with several sub 500-mile road trips (we don't live very far from daily life activities). No issues to report. We absolutely love BlueCruise and our only nitpick is that it would be nice to have automated lane changes... hoping to see that trickle down to 2021s sometime in the future.

True, but I feel like one could make a list that long or longer for pretty much any car. I’ve had at least as many issues with my 2012 Sonata (up to and including having the engine replaced under a recall after it seized while doing 70mph on the highway!) and the buttons on my steering wheel either A) not working or B) randomly performing different functions. Sometimes the stereo locks up and you can’t even turn it off or change volume without turning off the car completely. And yet still I consider it to have been a fairly reliable car.

These are complex machines designed, tested and built in high volumes in an imperfect world by imperfect human beings. The thing with the MME (and other EVs) is that much of that complexity is now software instead of mechanical, which is a double-edged sword.

It’s generally faster and easier to fix a software issue than a mechanical one (especially once you’ve produced a few hundred thousand) but it’s also faster and easier to break things too! ?

I've had very few problems with the car. The only thing that has become annoying is the front camera failures. Other than that I love it and I've had really none of the other issues reported loudly and repeatedly (often by the same people multiple times) on this forum.

It doesn't matter if it's a car of a coffee maker. The reviews are always skewed towards the problems. It's a normal psychological reaction. People who experience problems are a lot more likely to voice their opinion than those who don't.
If you see reviews of a product with abundant positive responses you can be sure those are rigged. Look at amazon reviews, you can see all sorts of Chinese junk having 4+ stars. I don't read positive reviews, I only read negative reviews and try to ascertain how valid and justified they are.
Complaints about MME aren't bad at all. There are very few serious issues and even those affect only small part of customers. Compare that to Tesla that has been a disaster though they were making cars for over a decade.
