What's behind this cover (in the frunk, next to the windshield wiper refill)

Silly question: how would “first responders” know about an undocumented HV disconnect buried under an unlabeled access panel in the frunk? ?
I think they ask Siri as they pull up onto the scene and that directs them to this forum. ?

Are you SURE that isn’t where the oil filler cap and dipstick are? Someone just reported that they received a complimentary 10K oil change from their dealer, and this would be the logical place for those items?
Seriously?

Why would they hide the dipstick under a plastic cover?

Next thing you are going to tell tell me is that I have to take off 3 plastic panels to get to the 12v battery!

It’s only two panels, silly. ??

that's the point.... most DONT
...unless they happen to know about the online link that manufactures are required to provide regarding location and access.

just 2 panels to get to the 12v battery.
But.... 3 panels and the entire Frunk tub to get to the fusebox

the HV disconnect automatically happens if there's a crash so I don't think it's even necessary

does it?
where did you read that?

If I were a First Responder, or Tow truck loading a wrecked MME on my truck I would want to pull the physical disconnect to be sure any possible shorts wouldn't start a fire while I was near it, on my truck or at the salvage yard.

....and I still think the disconnect should be easy to get to for any Service procedure that recommends disconnect before 'whatever'. Like the HVBJB remove/replace. It's ridiculous to have to remove two panels to get to a safety disconnect; especially when Ford designed in easy covers for headlight adjustment screws ?! really ?!

It's in the manual, but yeah, I guess it doesn't hurt either way, just a little redundancy

I'd bet dollars to donuts the Headlight Design and Enginerding Team (tm) has done lots of headlight adjustment access panels and knew to put them in the frunk cover. The HV Battery Safety Disconnect Design and Enginerding Team has only done one frunk tub design. The Fusebox team has never dealt with a frunk tub, either, being closer to the Air Filter Cover Inconvenience Maximization Team.

The Frunk Tub Design Team (who were seconded from the Adding Lots of Plastic Parts to Cover Everything in the Engine Bay to Maximize Opportunities for a Busted Knuckle Design Team) has worked with the headlight folks before, and they get along pretty well, but they didn't invite the HVBSDD&DT or the weird fuse people to the BBQ where they discussed access panels over a bucket of Naty Lights.

The Embossing Information on Plastic Things Team is always looking for something, anything, to do to be involved, so they put the + and - signs on, expecting someone would point it out to the 12v Battery Placement and Protection Team, but after a couple of keg stands at the BBQ it never got passed along. Similarly, the placement of the Emergency 12v Frunk Release Connection was handled by a kindly, but elderly, Italian fellow who comes in on Tuesdays. He prefers a nice chianti, so wasn't at the BBQ, either. The Driving With Windows Down User Experience Group and the Rear Cargo Cover Design, Installation, and Operation Team have been angry at each other ever since that unfortunate incident with the screwdriver and a can of spray cheese, with predictable results (unrelated to the frunk, but of great import to the We Should Check If The Seatbelts Are Going To Get Stuck Between The Seat and B Pillar All The Time Team, causing them to be slightly off their game).

Or some other similar large corporate communications SNAFU.

Got it. So, if I’m in an accident, billy bob from the volunteer fire company is going to stand there, pull out the cheapo- android phone he bought at cricket mobile (you know, the one with the really cracked screen), hopefully get a data connection, and try to google around to find that page, all while I’m lying there, semi-conscious in my car? ???
I can’t predict what will actually happen in any give circumstance, but first responders I know are aware of these things and take their training seriously. Mainly for their own safety.

You forgot the intern from GA Tech that they put into a locked room, told to come up with an innovative and creative charge port door design, then put the poor kid’s result straight into production with absolutely no reviews.

Yeah, they didn't realize that locked room was the Needlesly Complicated Low Durability Prone to Actuate at Random Parts Committee's storage facility. It's an unfortunately inspirational place to be. They only meet a couple of times a year, so the intern was lucky to get out of that one alive.

The last intern they had in there was from Texas A&M - he nearly drowned on the way to the BBQ when the pickup he was riding in drove off a bridge. Apparently he had trouble getting the tailgate down, but he came out OK. Got transferred to the HeebyJeeby Design Facility where he did great work on 800 amp contactors until he dropped a zero somewhere. It rolled under a table or something, I don't think they ever found it.

/What was the question, again?
