So, in early October I was driving my '22 MME GT from San Diego to LA heading north on I-5 using Blue Cruise. Somewhere around Oceanside the car threw up a full screen orange warning indicator saying "MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION DETECTED. SERVICE VEHICLE SOON." I was doing ~70-75mph when it happened and I noticed a loss of acceleration but the car continued to function adequately and I made it to LA. I spent the night and even drove back the next day (slowly) and took the car directly to the Ford dealership. A week later I was contacted to say that the main electrical "fuse panel" [Ford service rep's wording] was fried and that a replacement part was on back order with no ETA for availability. They said that if the part isn't available in 6-8 wks I should contact Ford and begin a buy-back option.

This is the well known HVBJB (high voltage battery junction box) problem.

call ford, they will expedite... it should be a week or so.

There are lots of people here with first hand experience that may chime in with additional advice.

Welcome to the club. I'm not sure if this topic is becoming more common than the loss of range topics these days... @RickMachE what do you think? :p

Hopefully they get it fixed soon. You do need to call Ford and start a case!

Call 1-800-392-3673 and ask for the Battery Electric Vehicle team. Get a case manager and a case number set up. Put them in touch with your dealer in order to expedite your part. Sorry this happened to you. It will happen to almost all of the AWD MMEs eventually, and to a good number of RWD MMEs too. ??

$6000 for labor?

even at $200/hour, that works out to 30 hours to replace. No wonder Ford is not replacing them in the recall until they fail.

I believe it is under 8 hours...

Lol, they probably can't get the part because the Ford employee saw the labor and just laughed until he fell off his chair. Holy cow. Make sure you send them the TSB in the post @generaltso sent you. The labor is limited to way less than what they're asking LOL. Wow. Swing for the fence, I guess!

It's under warranty. And since this is my 2nd MME in the last 2 yrs (first was totaled by a 19yo in a pickup), I've waited for the damn thing longer than I've been able to drive either of them. They're going to fix it.
