As we approach Winter was planning to get continental Viking contact snows. Any input is appreciated. Am more interested in feedback on what drive mode would offer the best control over snow. onscreen suggests whisper, when I think engage with 1-pedal should be better. This will be my first winter with a GTPE. My neighbor has a Y with the same stock summer performance tires as the MachE and says they are like riding on ice skates in cold weather. THANKS

Smart move on the Continental tires. I have had them on my PE since last winter. Excellent snow and ice performance. I exclusively use Whisper with one pedal off. You can see ice and snow on the road and can accelerate or brake accordingly. If you let up on the accelerator when you reach an icy spot (like you should) and one pedal is on, the car starts to brake immediately - not necessarily the correct thing on ice.

Thank you. Anyone who owns a license plate from Alaska with machE signage like yours makes me a huge believer! Makes sense to me now on whisper. Great explanation.

For drive modes I would go Wisper with 1PD off any time it’s really coming down.

You should note that those GTPE summer tires are not supposed to be used in cold weather, i.e. 45 degrees or below. You can crack the treads or actually chip chunks out. Don't wait for the snow.

I ran those tires. 6000 miles and perfection. Zero issues. Whisper....and if you can squeeze 18" rims, you will love the ride.

Can't emphasize this one enough - the time to swap to winter tires is 100% related to outside air temps - like Rick said as soon as you see 45 (7 celsius) or lower swap them out.

Summer tires are hard as rocks in colder temps. I'm on winters well before I see actual snow.

I ran the Michelin X-Ice Snow 19" on my Premium AWD last winter and they were fantastic. I see that you have a GT PE however, so I don't know if they are available in the GT PE wheel size.

I hear that the Nokian Happapeliitta R5 EV are really good as well but have never tried them.

I am a big fan of Vredestein Wintrac-Pro for the Mach-e for winter. I have a set on my original wheels, and I swap them on when it snows....

I leave my MME in unbridled 1-p, and have good results being delicate with the throttle in icy conditions. I prefer the 1-p because you don't have to move your foot from accellerator to brake, you can just back off accelleration to 'neutral' or a little more for very light regen braking.... much smoother than moving your foot off accellerator and feathering brake.

I am looking forward to snow driving this winter with my output/regen display on my phone right where I will be able to SEE the actual output/regen kW to confirm my neutral accelleration when needed.

Very deep snow, I sometimes turn traction control 'OFF' because I want to be able to pull my way out of a slide even if one or more tires are spinning a bit.

Your mileage may vary, I've not seen a really bad drop off in temps as low as zero degrees f. Traction is down some but it's not as bad people make it out to be.

I am running Viking contacts in the stock 20” size on my ‘21 GTPE and they have been great for me in Anchorage. In addition to the winter performance, I was surprised at how much quieter they are compared to the stock summers (which makes sense given the softer compounds).

I have run 18" Vredestein Wintrac Pro tires keep in mind the Mach E should have a performance winter and most of what others have mentioned don't have the right speed or load ratings. The Wintrac does have the factory rating speed and load rating or better. it's also rated very well by independent tests (tire rack & consumer reports) super smooth and quiet
