I taught I will charge my mach e from the 240v outlet today onwards but bummer.

- ordered the Hubble 240v outlet (industrial) as most of the reviews suggested
- called electrican
- he installed 50 amp breaker, with this outlet.
- when connected to Fords EVSE it just shows yellow light ?, and car wont charge
- electrician said he did everything as he should do

Looked online, they say mostly because it is over heating. What could over heat the outlet

Do you have a 14-50 plug for an electric clothes dryer or freestanding range, that you could use to test charger functionality?

Yeah good idea. Will do that and update tomorrow. Thanks

I’d bet your charger is defective.

It must have been really difficult to install that outlet box so far out of plumb! ?

In the first picture it looks straight. I wonder what is going on?

Ha, as soon as the dryer cycle is done, I got the long EVSE from garage, moved the dryer to access the 240v outlet(wife and kids gave me that weirdo look, but a man got to do what a man got to do :D), then saw the dryer outlet is little different (has a L shape to the bottom plug)

so back to square one. But thanks everyone.

The dryer probably needs a 30 A outlet, while your Ford EVSE needs 50 A. Check your oven/stove appliance outlet.

Yeah dryers are a 14-30 plug so it won't fit a 14-50 outlet. I don't think I can recommend lugging your range out into the garage just to test the outlet.

I think your charger might just be defective. Does it work if you plug it into a 120V outlet?

Yes it does work with regular 120v adapter/outlet

I had a bad Ford EVSE from new that I found out after installing a new 240 outlet. It took 27 days fighting with a local dealer to get a replacement. Call Ford and get transferred to BEV team then have them contact your local dealer. Make sure they have an outlet to test as well. I found out that most dealers dont have a way of testing the EVSE.
Good luck @kkgg

Is it yellow as soon as you plug in the EVSE or only after you also plug into your car?

Your issue sounds different than the typical problem - the Ford portable EVSE overheats in warm ambient temperature and shuts down. But I thought I would throw that out there especially since yours works on 120V which tends to produce less heat. Is your garage super warm for some reason?
