For a while now, I've been deciding on a new car. Initially, I wanted a tesla but as time passed I started to see just how good the Mach e is. Now I need to decide which version I should get. A little background; I live in Michigan and I'm looking for an everyday fast car (all-wheel drive) that I can use for every/most types of weather (snow, sleet rain, etc.). Also, let's say that money is not an issue, and I'm able to get any mach-e version. Currently, I'm looking at getting the premium extended range, the GT, and the GT performance (all of these in eAWD). However if you would recommend a different version of the mach e other than these ones please let me know! From my own research, I found that the GT and GTPE share many similarities with the premium however it seems like you lose things in both gt/gtpe. One of them being range. Also, not sure if this is true but I've also heard that it takes longer to charge a gt/gtpe. Let me know if there are other things that are lost/gained from premium to gt/gtpe and vice versa. Lastly, speed is a cool feature but isn't something I really need/care about per say. Hence why I'm also considering the premium. So my question is, which version do you guys recommend I get?

Thanks for reading and the help!

Intern? This sounds like a marketing exercise...

anyway, you will get a range of opinions... but the cars you listed are more similar than different.

keep in mind that the extended range cars all have the same battery, so charge times are identical

All the AWD cars are fast (<5 seconds to 60)

If money is no object get the GTPE

If money is an object, the premium 4x is better bang for the buck.

The range lost with the GT/GTPE is very very minor. Unless you’re planning on hitting max range drives on the daily. Even then charging will be dictated based on how far apart the chargers are, almost never your max range. If your charging stops are 150-200 miles apart, it doesn’t matter whether your max range is 260 or 290 miles.

For me it came down to Magna Ride (only available in GTPE) Which has been noted to fix the “bouncy ride” problem but also allows for a small bit of adjusting (based on drive modes).

thx man, appreciate the help. honestly, I thought that you lose things if you get the gtpe though because the range goes from 290 to 260 but I guess not. Also, this isn't a marketing thing I created a personal account for this. I actually only do work on the bronco at the moment

Really? gtpe is still good for that weather? I thought that because they had more performance-based wheels it would it would be as good for year-round.

If money's not an issue, it's a simple answer - get the best money can buy and jump on a GTPE. If you value value and range over speed then a Premium 4X is perfect.

But again, if money's not an issue, I'd end up regretting it every day if I didn't get the fastest one. But then again, if money wasn't an issue, I'd just pay ADM for a platinum lightning.

For weather, you're going to focus on tires not wheels. The summer tires aren't going to work anyways in the cold.

Does the gtpe/gt have summer or all-year-round tires?

Yes, The GTPE version still has the modes of the other models and the traction control of the other models. Just don't put it in Unbridled mode in a snow storm.

Yeah it's a tough call depending what you prioritize. I was worried about the bouncy ride but so far with our Premium they either improved things or it's heavily overblown on this site because our car rides great. I definitely wouldn't find value in spending the extra money on a GT or GTPE over the Premium, and the extra money isn't an issue for us either. But spending money just to spend it doesn't make sense if there isn't value behind it. And so far I can't envision anything I would gain by going to one of the higher trim levels given the issues with the GT and GTPE with gray bars and all that.

Maybe the Gen 2 Mach-e we will get a GT, when they have resolved the gray bar issues and matured the platform. But right now if your priority is reliability and range along with creature comforts the Premium is the best route.

If you prioritize 0-60 speed for whatever reason and the GT badge, then get the GTPE since Magneride is still nice, even if not quite as essential as I was brought to believe. There is zero reason to get the GT if money is no object, it has all the drawbacks of the GTPE as far as gray bar issues and that, the same basic ride as the Premium, the same range loss as the GTPE compared to the Premium. It's the worst of both worlds.

So just have to decide, GTPE or Premium. If you road trip sometimes the extra range buffer can be helpful, especially in colder weather. The GTPE is faster, but if you aren't taking it to the track then who cares? I live in MI and work for Ford, while I am still WAH currently, when I have to go into REVC (where they build the Lightning) or whatever, there is no point on that route where being a little faster to 60 than a Premium is beneficial at all. Would be lucky to hit 60 before another traffic light or monster pothole. :)

GTPE comes with summer tires, so be prepared for a seasonal change or replacement with all-season and losing some advantages of sportier summer tires.

Also, different seats in premium vs GT vs GTPE. Give your back a chance to try them all before you decide.

I have the GT and have driven through one snow storm so far ind it was great. I am not sure but there are some posts on here about the Manga ride not doing well in REAL cold weather but others here would have better advice. I didn't get the GTPE due to cost. I got the GT because of trim, seats and glass roof (you can get this on the premioum but not the seats.) If money is no object go for the gusto GTPE and start saving for those speeding tickets. ?
