1) If the 12V battery is too dead it won't have enough power to go into emergency tow mode. Jump the 12V battery and then try again. If it was grayed out, it may have already been in emergency tow mode, did you try pushing the vehicle? The parking brake also has to be turned off separately before the car will roll.

2) Try messaging "Ford of Canada" on here.

Your dealer sucks, they didn't know how to order the part correctly and then lied to you about it (and loners). Only one HVBJB is authorized per VIN, so if your dealer ordered it wrong they will have to work with Ford to claim the first allocated part missing so they can order another one for your VIN. It's the dealers' responsibility to learn how to do these things correctly as part of their job. Ford will help them, but they have to recognize there's an issue and be willing to ask for help. If the dealer doesn't hear back from Ford, then they need to call again or check their email.

The dealer reportedly reordered the part on 11/9, but states they are getting an error message when attempting COPIS. They were waiting to hear back from Ford for assistance. I received a message from Ford on 11/11 that they have been unable to locate the order, and are waiting for verification from the dealer on the order. Around and around we go…..It’s now been over 2 weeks since the part was ordered, then lost the first time, and the dealership/Ford still haven’t figured out a way to get this thing ordered correctly. 5 weeks total so far at the dealer. I’m not expecting any resolution before the new year at this point.

That sounds a lot like my experience so far. Except my car it sitting 1000 miles from home where the HVBJB died on a road trip.

Dealer swears they ordered it as an "emergency order through COPIS". But the Ford people don't see any order in COPIS for my VIN. Said they tried to contact the dealer service department but couldn't get through, will try again another time and give me an update a week later. Said they're "working with parts" (not sure if that means the dealership Parts Dept, or internally to Ford) but said it's still backordered with no ETA. But the ticket is escalated. Also, another guy at Ford (the general customer service rep) read off my case ticket that "the depot was waiting on a large shipment, and it would get dispatched from there".

So lord knows what status it's really in. It broke down in Reno 10/21 and has been sitting at the dealer there ever since. We rented a car to drive home a few days later. We're heading back to Reno on another trip next week and we were hoping to pick it up then, but odds are looking slim it'll be done. Our next trip out will probably be mid-Dec.

@scoopman @pr3dict

I just got my reimbursement card and it says no ATM Access at the bottom of the "welcome letter".

Do you know if I can I take the prepaid card to my bank (Chase) and have the funds be taken off the card and immediately deposited into my bank account?
Convert it to amazon credit. That's what I do with all my rebate visa cards.

Same here. Any time I get a rebate via Visa or MC debit card, I just go into Amazon and use it to "buy" Amazon gift card credit. Don't have to worry about remembering to spend it somewhere, or it only being enough for part of a purchase and figuring out how to pay the rest.

The HVBJB recall has been around long enough now that Ford must have completed hundreds of replacements (Assuming that most owners are not on this board or report their problems). And yet they still have problems with simply ordering the correct part.

Is this a dealer issue or a Ford corporate issue? Is Ford's system archaic that the dealer is having this much trouble ordering a part?

I took the card to Chase and they took the full amount off the card using a cash advance and put it in my bank account. No fees from Chase and no fees from the card provider either.

There's little point in trying to divine a root cause. It doesn't matter. The entire world is being overrun by incompetence. Might as well get used to it. This is just the way things work now, and it's not going to get any better.

It's a Ford not wanting to spend money on warranty claims so they put as much friction as possible to drip out replacement parts and try to not pay rental cars kind of issue.

They can get systems working more efficiently if they wanted to. I don't exactly think this is a big priority for them.

I don't think this is just incompetence.

Yeah, given how long Ford has known about this, there has to have been thought and discussion about how Ford was gout handle this. Conjecture on my part: The current procedural mess has got to be the result of conscious decision. ??

I know this is conspiracy theory thinking but I have thought, based on what I have read on forum, that Ford is doling out the recall software (I have not yest received it) as they suspect a certain number of “failing” HVBJB’s will pop up the SVS alarm shortly after the update. In this way they are spreading out the hurt and allowing them to try and keep up with part supplies.

That's exactly what a pessimist would say.
How else would you describe Ford not replacing a part they have called sub-par or not robust enough or inferior.

every time I go up a big hill or pass a car , I think, is this when it craps out.

worst of all, if my wife is in the car and I hear, “I told you not to take this car”. When (not if) the car breaks down I want to make sure she is at home.

When I stopped working I stopped worrying. When people say they are worried , I say, I am done with that. I usually think positive things will happen but when it comes to this matter I am a realist, otherwise known to you as a pessimist ?
