I have been looking through previous threads discussing the "Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power" message and am curious if anyone received this message after the latest update?

My car updated overnight and I woke to this message. Everything is behaving fine - no issues driving at all (knock on wood).

I have a great dealer, but it is SO inconvenient to leave the car. Hoping to avoid it.... wondering if the update caused a glitch?

Thoughts?

It can happen. They can get finnicky right after updates. I'd not worry about it and drive as you would and only go to the dealer if it comes back.

Yes it happen Friday of last week. I took Mach E GT Space White in for services recall on Aug 30,2022 Tuesday upgrade migrated carefully form my eyes no problem. Late night heading home interstate 10 heading back palm springs CA area red vehicle sign pop up. Friday morning check app Powertrain Malfuction/ Reduces Power & High-Voltage Battery Warning. Here are Tuesday Sept 6,2022 and NO update

It happened to me last week and I received the update about two weeks ago and the car was at the dealership for the 10k mile check the week before.

@DevSecOps was kind enough to run my VIN and discovered my HVBJB was fried. Before then the dealership was saying it might be resolved with a software fix.

So fast forward to today, I’ve been without my car now for 5 days andbecaise the part is on back order, I’m looking at an estimate of two weeks to two MONTHS before I get my car back.

I wouldn’t wait until you have a catastrophic failure and be stuck somewhere.

This JUST happened to me as well, most recent updates were completed a few days ago. I was on a ChargePoint charger tonight, it charged about 10% more and then stopped charging saying there was an error. I checked the app and got this…..

Wasn’t even driving it, it was charging. Now luckily I’ve got enough to get me home, but worried about driving it with the error. Ugh! Guess I get to call the dealership tomorrow.

if you don’t mind- post your results here. Mine finally goes in next week for this. Dealer said I could have a loaner until now. I’ve been driving with this popping up off and on for quite a while with no issues. Fingers crossed we both just get a quick update and are on our way!

It may gone in the morning.... I had very similar situation week ago.
I unplugged car, let it stay for 4 hours, than plugged back. Car start charging and 2 hours later the powertrain error was gone...

Anybody have any updates in regards to their specific situations above. Just had this same thing happen today. ‘22 Premium that I just took delivery of in October. Under 1m old and got this issue while charging. Got a charge fault error and it stopped charging. Then FordPass app updated to display the Powertrain Malfunction / reduced power error. Got the service light in the car. And scheduled service message too. Waited 30m and plugged it back in and it’s now charging fine. Scheduled a Mx appt at the dealer for 3 weeks out. Trying to see if this is more serious and if I need to try to get in sooner.

If the error messages cleared themselves and the car is charging again fine there is no urgent need to go to the dealer. You can keep the appointment, but if the errors do not come back I would probably cancel the day before the appointment as there is a good chance you will drop off the car only to be told days later no problem found.

I have received this message no less than 20 (!) times in the past month. Car at dealer now…..
