Agree on all points. Ford made the ST's, owned 2. They really handled well, but Ford could not do better for the 70K MME GT.
Not sure why all the naysaying about handling.

It handles awesome………for a 5000 lb SUV.

Very few, if any 5000 lb SUVs will handle better.

No clue why anyone would expect nimble Miata handling out of a 5000 lb vehicle.
It’s great for what it is.

This list of best handling SUVs came out before we existed. But we would be right near the top of the list, next to some very expensive and nice vehicles-

Motortrend te us at .96 G, which would put us tied for 3rd as best handling SUV.

Yes, I know lateral G is just one stat. But that’s an impressive number considering our tires suck compared to the other vehicles on that list. Only the Cayenne Turbo and Lamborghini Urus do better. And they cost how much??

My GT holds the road and corners flat amazingly well, for the 5,000 pounds of battery powered SUV that it is.
Pretty sure that the porpoise issue is a road vs wheelbase issue. Stiff suspension to support 5000# cornering vs concrete road imperfections. neVAr happens on smooth asphalt for me. I love my GT.

Good points, I just think Edge ST handled turns better. True on the tires. I now have 22s with wide PS4s.

my other vehicle is a tuned Miata and this car takes road turns at surprisingly similar speeds than the Miata, sometimes even faster. The Miata has a completely different road feel (less than 2500lb) but considering the GTPE weighs twice as much I think ford did a great job. The Miata is not a fast car but it’s unmatched in giving the illusion of speed.

Like others who have weighed in here, I purchased the 23 GTPE over the GT based upon the wheels and magneride.

I have had my 2022 GT Performance Edition for about a month now, and I love how it handles. Especially for a 5000+ pound vehicle. The interior trim is fantastic, the seats are comfortable, and the vehicle is better than I could have hoped for.

If any of you think the MME handles well. Never ever ever get behind the wheel of a GLC, X3 or Macan. Your fantasy bubble will be popped. In base form they cost less too.

Believe motortrend said it best. You have to load the front end more than a normal vehicle to get it turn (either trail brake or lift off aggressively with one pedal). Otherwise it’ll push like push into the other lane. You like that? Seriously!?

I prob. Should have got the PE, but it's all good. Put all my money in the GT500.

Perhaps I don't push off aggressively, but I enjoy how it performs in the routine city driving conditions that I normally face. We have a lot of roundabouts in my area, and my GTPE hugs the turn nicely.

Nevertheless, it is better than my previous car, an Altima. I realize that sets a low bar. But I'm happy.

The overall look -- tires, trim, seats, accents -- plus the mangaride and boosted motors was enough for me to make a bet on the PE.

Plus, the lower trim lines were sold out. :)

I test drove the Macan (a few years ago, can’t remember the trim) and found it underwhelming in terms of power and a very small backseat. The GTPE is more comparable with the X3M but have not test driven that. Never found the GLC attractive.

i was in the same situation! I think a California trim AWD or a premium AWD with extended battery would have been all I needed but the dealership that had no markup only had one MachE which was the GTPE. Having owned the GTPE, I do appreciate the front fascia, rims, magneride, seats and interior improvements. I wasn’t needing all the initial acceleration but it is nice. Is it worth 16K? Still feeling it out but it’s nice to get some Features for the money instead of just paying markup to the dealer…

All those vehicles actually turn instead of being a good analog of a school bus
