I just got my Mache back after 45 days due to the same issue. Since they didn't have loaners, Ford dealership gave me a rental through Hertz, I didn't even have to ask. May be it's the dealership that is the issue here.

Some of you may remember my other thread regarding our latest critical failure, as well as the six other times our Mach-E has been in the dealership due to recalls and other critical failures.

To recap, my Mach-E received the infamous "Stop Safely Now" message (12V Battery Bricked) and had to get it towed. It has been at the dealership for two weeks now with no movement, figuratively or literally.

An official case has been opened with Ford and we have not heard from our Case Specialist after countless emails, texts and voicemails. Our service advisor at the dealership has also tried contacting the Case Specialist numerous times with zero success. We were expecting to hear from her by Tuesday, 12/6...didn't happen. We chatted and spoke to another specialist on 12/7 and they said that our Case Specialist had it scheduled on her calendar to call us by EOD on 12/7. Also didn't happen. One more time (AAAAAAARRGGHHH!!!) we contacted a specialist through the online chat feature on 12/8, only to be told we would FOR SURE be contacted by our Case Specialist no later than 12/10. You already know what happened, right? Yep, she never called. This is honestly insane.

Our family and friends keep reminding us that we are being held hostage by Ford. And we completely agree. Not only is the Mach-E out of our possession, but it is completely inoperable. There's literally no ETA on next steps, due to the global battery and chip shortage. So, what does that mean? Well, it means we are simply stuck paying for a premium electric vehicle we don't even have. And because of Ford's no loaner policy, my family now has to share my husband's car, which is not only causing issues with getting to and from work, but more importantly issues with our special needs child's daily transportation to and from school.

We've spoken to two lawyers about pursuing Texas Lemon Law, as well as damages incurred. The major issue with this path of action is the time it takes for a case like this to run its course.

In addition, we recently shared this story with several major news outlets — all of whom find our situation appalling. But not just our situation: every Mach-E owner, former or present. Ford's lack of ownership for those consumers out there who are suffering and plagued by the Mach-E's many failures must come to light. We must get them to start taking responsibility and doing the right thing: getting consumers out of these vehicles and back on their feet. I know there's a class action lawsuit regarding the sudden and total loss of power, but it seems like there needs to be one for this "Stop Safely Now/12V Battery" failure.

We know many of you have been through similar or worse with the Mach-E, so we are open to hearing any suggestions.

At this point, ALL WE WANT is for Ford to take accountability through a manufacturer buyback that zeroes out our loan, so that we can start over and leave this nightmare in the rear view. Because everything we are going through, every minute of every day, is irrevocably unacceptable.
Just curious if you somehow have a bad phone number or email for them to get back to you? Seems like that would be something to confirm, to make sure they are not calling a number or using an email address that is not you.

I hope it works out... I do believe Ford will correct the concerns. I'm sure Ford is scrambling to fix the problems. I've been fortunate not to have any issues on my 22 Mach E GT PE. It's interesting... GM recalled tons of Chev Bolts... everyone got a new battery after owning the vehicle for several years. As for Ford, these cars come with a 8 year, 100,000 mile battery. Hopefully, it all works out. They definitely fell short on training everyone at the dealerships. I've signed up for a week long course on Mach E repairs and battery removal for the body shop business. Good thing is... the parts are much easier to get than Tesla. They'll fix the "contactor issues" and I hope they gave you some type of loaner... that would help... if not, maybe, Ford needs to step it up or forgive a payment or something. I'm guessing the 2023 will have a better quality "contactor". Hang in there... My car is blast to drive... I don't plan on selling it.

This will also be my first and last Ford EV. Outstanding ticket for five months and no one is able to fix it or want to fix it. Keep passing to the next department every time I called.

I just went through four months without my MME. I got it back for four days after 10.5 weeks for the first major incident then the HVBJB. That added 4 more weeks to the ordeal! A LOOOONNNNGGGG four months. They covered my rentals off and on for the most part. Horrible experience. Happy my HVBJB time bomb has come and gone!
Hi, Excuse my ignorance (new to the EV world) but could you please tell me what MME, HVBJB means?
Many thanks

It is the High Voltage Board Junction Box. It is an important part for the car to run. Since you’re new, I’m gonna avoid all the technical stuff. If it dies, you’re either stuck where it died or you’ll get to drive long enough to go to a dealer ASAP. If you are just looking at the Mach-E, as long as you buy one built after May 2022, you shouldn’t have to worry about it.

MME: Mustang Mach-E. Self explanatory
HVBJB: High Voltage Battery Junction Box. This is a part that is attached to the battery. It contains a bunch of contactors (relays) that control when/how the high voltage battery is connected to the rest of the car. When the car is off, the contactors are open and no power is flowing. When the car is on, the relays close, connecting the circuit, and power flows. There are conditions where one or more contactors will become stuck in the closed position, which can be a problem.

... now that the secret is out it's time to make up more acronyms. :)

GM replaced all of Bolt EV batteries listed in the recall even though there were only 19 Bolts with the defective battery pack. The new battery has 10% more kWh (66 vs 60), the new batteries extend the useable battery life by 2+ years and it now has greater range than the MME. For comparison, Ford only permits MME owners to access 90% of its 99kWh.

Unfortunately I think I’m in the same boat. We’ve owned a few Fords over the years and the constant recalls are a PITA. Our Mach-E experience has put the final nail in the coffin for us. More and more I regret selling my 4Runner (which was rock solid) and using the cash to buy this Mach-E. If my wife didn’t adore it so much I’d have sold it by now. Our Honda Odyssey has been pulling double duty and again, another rock solid car.
My sister and I have been eyeballing the BMW i4 as it will likely replace her own Mach-E. Ford has had 6 months to fix our grievances aside from the numerous recalls. We may very well keep it for my wife’s sake but it’ll be the last Ford.
You may not want to compare end of life designs (4 runner, Odyssey) with any BEV, let alone a gen 1.

I think he is saying no current year BEV is going to have the high quality level at their end of life as your Toyota and Honda do, including the i4. It remains to be seen if that is a correct opinion or not, but it certainly isn't critical of your post IMO. The opinion has merit because BEVs are new territory for all car manufacturers and long term quality isn't known yet. He could be 100% correct.

Does this really mean anything that is stamped manufactured AFTER May 2022 has the new HVJB? How does verify that or should I trust that it just does?

The new part was used beginning May 25, 2022. That's why.
