It was my understanding the car has a learning algorithm. Mine has a stubborn "Don't like how I drive? Fine you take over" algorithm ?. Car definitely pulls right. But then my ex wife and girlfriend pull to the left whenever they drive ?. If only I could blend the two.

I don't have Blue Cruise, but the Adaptive Cruise Control. I haven't seen issues like this. If anything, I end up biasing the car to the right side of the lane to feel more comfortable with traffic coming from the opposite direction, then letting it alone until the next car is passing. I don't think it's a hazard, just that I'm extra cautious about oncoming traffic.

Mid July 2022 basic Select.

An OTA is coming to address this.
That's great news, but the guy with a 2023 still says it has a slight right bias. Hopefully the update is a version newer than the 2023 production software.

I also deal with the initial right pull when activating hands free. One thing I’ve done to help myself a little is to turn it on, purposely drift to the left side of my lane and then let go. The right pull starts and the car evens it out before I get super close to the right side of the lane. Even then, it does feel right-biased when it is cruising hands free.

Only have 300 miles on mine and limited Blue Cruise time. I usually stay in the right lane unless passing (as one should). I’ve always tended to drive to the outside of the lane to give me more separation. BC seems to get more to the center line than I prefer but hasn’t gone over the line.

Uh, yes I've had it happen multiple times while trying to hold it off passing cars. You have to be holding the wheel for a while and then let go. The counter force builds with time like a spring storing energy, so when you let go it releases quickly and shoots you a foot or two into the next lane. Lane alert goes off. You have to let go slowly after holding the wheel so it doesn't do that.

Really dumb the car's own steering inputs will set of its own lane alert.
ahhh I see. Holding pressure on the wheel and then releasing it quickly is asking for trouble. The PID loop is not expecting that.

I don’t have a ton of time on BC, but I find if I leave it alone it remains centered. If I start messing with it, it fights back. Hope to have some extended time with it this weekend

Tonight I was surprised that BC worked for about 30s on an enabled highway, then turned off and required a hand on the wheel. Yesterday I went over 10 miles on BC. Any ideas on why it would stop working and not come back on?

Hello,

I like the idea of BlueCruise, but it scares the bejesus out of me. Specifically, I spend a lot of time in the leftmost lane, and it tends to drift into the lane to the right of me (US, so same direction traffic). Hands free, of course. When it is hands on, I am always applying a little pressure to keep it left a little more.

It especially tends to do this right as I am passing another car or right after I have passed another car. Frequently enough, it drifts into the lane to the right and throws up the red lights yelling at itself for crossing into the next lane.

It certainly seems to PO other drivers when "I" cut them off like that.

What's up with this thing?
Good to read I'm not the only one with that sense that it hugs to the right - scarily so.

If you want to spook yourself more, have the guard rails not only rumble.to warn you if you're leaning left or right, have it autocorrect. I had that feature on for all of five minutes before it literally tossed me back into a lane I was leaving to pass a car (didn't use a turn signal - which is likely why it intervened). Nope, shut that feature right off.

Blue Cruise on my F 150 is hands down better than my MME. I think if a cop was following me driving the MME I would get pulled over and given a breathalyzer!
that is the exact opposite of my experience. My Mach-E is everything I dreamed BC would be and my F150 hugs right, bounces back and forth, and cuts out constantly. Guess it’s just a tuning/consistency issue and not a size of vehicle problem like I suspected.

My other vehicle is a Kia Telluride. While the "hands free" part of BlueCruise is pretty nice, it's safe to say that Kia's system is much better at driving. The Kia has no ping-ponging, no right bias, no swinging out to the right when it's engaged. It feels very natural and controlled.

The Telluride has the same camera configuration as the MME (camera at the top of the windshield, on the grill, under the side view mirrors, and on the rear hatch), so it's hard to understand why Ford's system drives the way it does. I've heard people describe the "swing right on activation" behavior of BlueCruise to be some sort of calibration, but I'm unclear on why this would be necessary. I like using BlueCruise when there are no other cars around, but it's pretty stressful in traffic IMHO.

Yes, my F150's system is far superior to the MME. By a large margin. I'll let the F150 do most of the driving but w/ the MME, the last trip I took I kept it off. It was just shit to put it nicely.

I guess my car was one of the few that would set the lane assistance to the position you held it in after 12 seconds. However, now that I have the full blue cruise it no longer will set the lane position, SUPER freaking annoying. Its even more dangrous here in CA where bikes split on the right, it leaves them no room.

Also, for some reason BC likes to swing right aggressively when it first engages
100% does this... I had turned my system off and was driving more to the left while in the fast lane. I turned on the system and remove pressure from the wheel and the car went to the right line, then went left just as abrupt and then a slight right adjustment.

Another thing that really annoys me... The car follow distance, 1 bar is 1 semi and 1/2 a car length between me and the car in front at 75mph. At 65mph it cuts out that half car length and is about the range of 1 semi. So when that car slows down just a little and then speeds back up the MME brake checks the car behind me because I'm stopping a semi length away from the car in front of me..... There is zero excuses why the car holds a semi gap following distance when a car slows 4mph and then speeds back up 3 seconds later. One day its going to cause me to get rear ended.

I've never had a 'swing right' from either one of my ford systems.

I’m on a free trial so I occasionally use BC but it seems to ping-pong my car from side-to-side. I always keep my hands on the steering wheel.
