Not too surprising. They aren't making money on this car so their only incentive is to have a local customer who will come back for service (maybe?) and could be a repeat (not likely for out of state)...otherwise what's their incentive?
Yeah, I understand their rationale. My point is there aren't cars on dealer lots available to buy at MSRP. That may change soon with the 2023 price increase, especially if/when the fed rebate is reduced.

The MY was $50k car, now at $66k, even with the discount, still way over priced for what it is. Also Tesla will be forced to lower the price of the car very soon.

Unpopular opinion: The MME is not worth the 2023 pricing for the sizable portion of the target demographic that no longer qualifies for the tax credit. Obviously that's a huge "IMHO", but as a current owner I can say with confidence that there's no way I'd buy this car for $15k more than I did.
Totally agree with you. We cancelled an order on a '23 Premium AWD EXT., when it was revealed that it would be an increase of $12k CAD over the previous model year, with no added value features.

With the new discount of $7500 and free charging of 10,000 miles (~$1400 value), a Model Y price point is arguably cheaper than a 2023 Premium AWD ER after full tax credit. Model Y has a longer EPA range 330 miles compared to 290 miles of Mach E. Will Ford run the same promotion on Mach E hopefully back date to first of December?
Wait, do you hear it, listen closely, it's all the sounds of the Tesla haters coming out! ?

Tesla is making most margin of any manufacturer right now, they have even more room to drop prices further, legacy auto has limited room

$15k more?!? I'm not following your math. Looks like about 10 grand for a Prem 4x. My car would be 7 more than I paid.

If I can help fill in the gaps for OP I'll try just because I have a sneaky suspicion he's right.

Telsa follows the market pretty closely and very quickly adapts to the trend. They went down 3500 and now 7500...and I just checked and they have 7 Model Y's available right now in KC to buy...that's pretty high inventory for them...especially given these discounts. That's, IMO, a sign of the current market. Mach-Es are mostly customer orders so there's not a lot of inventory to be expected ever but I'm seeing local dealers start advertising on them on social media...they haven't had to do that before.

The combination of the price increase on the '23s and the RAPID and steep drop in demand is a bad combo.

I don't think 2023 is going to be a good year for dealership and auto makers...and for us....our values are going to drop like a rock.

Local Tesla FB group had someone complaining because their model 3 trade in value expired and the new value dropped 13k. That's massive....I thinketh the pain cometh soon.
That’s the beauty of rebates (remember those from like every year through 2019?).

Manufacturers can and do update them monthly as needed to move inventory.

My suspicion ever since they did the massive MSRP increase was this would give them some “breathing room” for potential discounting in the future if needed.

But it’s not needed…….. yet.

They don’t know the amount of demand drop for 2023. Especially with many losing the tax credit.

$8k price increase plus no $7500 credit plus no X plan equals an $80k GTPE…… that I don’t know if I would have bought at that price.

My 2021 with every option was only $61k after credit and x plan.

Tax credit. Many won’t qualify for it in 2023.

I'd say "many" is a stretch but I don't know @awp0's particular situation.
Many people make more than $150k/yr.

Especially those buying $70k new vehicles.

Plus “Many” May turn into “Everyone” when it comes to the full credit next year. It may turn out no one gets the full $7500 on the Mach E when they finally tell us the rules around March 2023.

Either way, you math question on the $15k difference should be answered.

2023 Mach-E and the Model Y with the $7500 off are both overpriced by $5K still. The 2021/2022 Mach-Es were correctly priced.

I’ve owned 4 of each now and think they both raised prices too high and completely ignored that competitors are undercutting them. I’d probably pick an EV6 wind or Ioniq 5 SEL AWD for mid 50s if I had no EVs today.
