I don't see why so much emphasis is put on if the MME or MY are cheaper. The difference isn't going to be by a lot, and the MME offers far more. Actual instrument cluster display in front of the driver, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring in mirrors, pretty sure I am missing some others that I see Tesla owners still complain about (do they have 360 camera yet?).

No AA/CarPlay. I know some try to say the infotainment is so good it doesn't matter, but that's an oversimplification. I listen to Podcasts mainly and I can be listening to a Podcast and get in my F-150 and Wireless CarPlay takes over and keeps playing right where I was when listening on headphones. I could go out and do stuff, get out of the truck, and go on listening on headphones. Later I can get in my wife's MME and Wireless CarPlay takes over and things keep on playing.

Like it or not, smartphones are a single device that are useful and already tuned to your preferences and entertainment needs. So having a car that automatically just keeps doing whatever my phone was doing for me is significant. I don't want to change my behavior to make Tesla happy, the Tesla should have the functionality that makes me happy.

You gain better software updates, which I agree with, and Supercharging, which depending on your area may be so jammed up as to be largely useless when you really need it, plus they may be opening up to the MME and others this (coming) year anyway.

Heck, even if the MY is cheaper than the MME, there is so much competition out there, a lot of it still better than Tesla, like the Ioniq5 or id.4 or any number of new competitors, I don't know why people keep making threads that involve Tesla. Sure if it was 2019, but Ford has so many more significant competitors these days. Tesla sales are coasting on word of mouth these days more than capability and these conversations would be more interesting if people acknowledged it.
+1 to all of this.

No CarPlay will always be a dealbreaker, there's no substitution for having your actual phone mirrored on your car display with supporting apps as well

I have a Lariat ER that was supposed to be built last week. I’ve not been notified that it’s complete and any glimmer of hope getting it this year is all but gone!
Ouch!

Are you passing on the Lightning should it arrive in 2023 ?

@generaltso Yes for my dealer. They sold two this month at MSRP and the new one is selling at MSRP. Others are listing Mach E at MSRP (dealership's price).
Still not understanding your logic. And seems I’m not alone based on how quickly this hit 4 pages.

So they have 1 car on the lot at full MSRP. It’s been there a very short time (since it’s a 2023).

And this makes you think Ford needs to add a $7500 discount?

MSRP is “full price.” And they only have ONE! Why would Ford issue a nationwide discount because your local dealer has 1 car on the lot?

To compete with Tesla, who has inventory not selling and a temporary December discount?

Head scratcher for sure.

Will they SELL it for MSRP, though? When I was looking earlier this year, tons of dealers *advertised* MSRP, but call them up and ask what the ADM was on it, and it was far from 0.
Yep. Olathe Ford is one of the good ones. So is Victory Ford here. KC is a good area for no ADM

No, I’m going to take delivery. I had my dealer’s FCTP Lightning over a weekend when my Mach-E was in for service and I’m hooked!

With the new discount of $7500 and free charging of 10,000 miles (~$1400 value), a Model Y price point is arguably cheaper than a 2023 Premium AWD ER after full tax credit. Model Y has a longer EPA range 330 miles compared to 290 miles of Mach E. Will Ford run the same promotion on Mach E hopefully back date to first of December?
Model Y doesn't have more range. Tesla just lies better.

If I can help fill in the gaps for OP I'll try just because I have a sneaky suspicion he's right.

Telsa follows the market pretty closely and very quickly adapts to the trend. They went down 3500 and now 7500...and I just checked and they have 7 Model Y's available right now in KC to buy...that's pretty high inventory for them...especially given these discounts. That's, IMO, a sign of the current market. Mach-Es are mostly customer orders so there's not a lot of inventory to be expected ever but I'm seeing local dealers start advertising on them on social media...they haven't had to do that before.

The combination of the price increase on the '23s and the RAPID and steep drop in demand is a bad combo.

I don't think 2023 is going to be a good year for dealership and auto makers...and for us....our values are going to drop like a rock.

Local Tesla FB group had someone complaining because their model 3 trade in value expired and the new value dropped 13k. That's massive....I thinketh the pain cometh soon.

I'm glad to hear that there are many no ADM dealers out there and many Mach E to choose from. My 2022 premium AWD ER was sitting on the lot for over 10 days before I bought it at msrp this month. No buyers just test drivers. It was like 50 miles before I got to test drive it.

Unpopular opinion: The MME is not worth the 2023 pricing for the sizable portion of the target demographic that no longer qualifies for the tax credit. Obviously that's a huge "IMHO", but as a current owner I can say with confidence that there's no way I'd buy this car for $15k more than I did.

Victory Ford is my good local dealer but my wife wants to trade MME for discount Tesla.

Agreed. I took delivery of a GT a month ago. I absolutely love the car. However, there's no way I'd pay over $70k for the same car without or at a reduced tax credit...especially seeing the writing on the wall and waning demand/higher interest rates. I'd wait it out for that price to drop.

Based on my experience with both a Tesla and MME, Y all day long and twice on Sunday at the same price.

Arguably. There are far too many variables tbh. Some of the "enhanced inventory" Tesla has could be related to the upcoming tax law changes, enticements to get people to buy now not January 2.
Model Y has a longer EPA range 330 miles
EPA predicted range and real-world range are two very different things.
I'm sorry, but a Model Y looks like a pregnant Model 3.
You're too kind. :)
I think Ford should throw in some incentives for owners and buyers.
They will when ordering begins to slow and/or inventory begins to rise.
A lot of people are in that situation. I got an extra 250kWh, and all 500kWh will expire unused.
Likewise.

I tried to buy an MME from Olathe a couple of months ago and as soon as they found out I was from out-of-state, they refused to sell it to me. I'm sure they're great if you live in the KC area.

Not too surprising. They aren't making money on this car so their only incentive is to have a local customer who will come back for service (maybe?) and could be a repeat (not likely for out of state)...otherwise what's their incentive?
