Ordered a 2022 Mach E Premium ER AWD Ice White Package back in Jan 2022. Ford converted my order to a 2023 MY but no ice white package, just star metallic white. When I went to pick up my 2023 MME dealer had an avail 2022 Ice White Package (5k miles). I purchased my 2023 (purchased with price protection, and to hopefully get full $7500 EV tax credit)

What would I be missing out from the 2023 MY if I try to sell/trade to get the Ice White Package?
* I know range goes from '23 (290miles) to '22 (272miles)

Will the 2022 models update to the same infotainment system UI as the 2023?

Curious what our thoughts are. Thank you

The Used '22 would not qualify for the tax credit. "Buying" the '23 to get the tax credit and immediately trading it would also be a problem with the tax credit.

i don't know you mean about lower range, all mach-e's with the same features have the same range regardless of year. is the MY2022 not a premium 4x ER?

right now the 2023 tax rebate is potentially not possible. the model you ordered is above the $55,000 MSRP threshold so as of right now you do not qualify. a lot of people are upset so it's possible IRS changes their designation of the mach-e as a sedan rather than SUV sometime this year but i think that's a risky bet...

Bought the 2023 in 2022...

2023 has more range than 2022 / 2021s.

1) As stated, if you sell the 2023 right away, that could be in violation of the tax credit requirements that you not buy for resale.

2) The 2022 will likely get updated to the same range, but not guaranteed.

3) No difference in UI once the 2022 and 2021s are updated.

4) You could be buying someone's problem.

I believe the 23 ER AWD now has 290 mi range. Where 22 same trim had 270 mi

I know the sticker says that there is a 20 mile range difference. I've wondered if the hardware is identical and the software changes that account for the 20 miles actually apply to both cars.... Or is there some hardware difference and if so what exactly is it.

I am fairly certain the EPA does not go back and change prior year range figures.

I would think of just trading the 23 for the 22 just so I can get the original ice white appearance package I ordered.

Still no tax credit on the 23.

Or, is the range actually the same for both model years - no relevant differences in hardware OR software - and they just rated it differently?

It sounds like you have buyer remorse (not liking the color) and want to get the ice white package. I personally would not want a used car unless the car is not longer in production. If I want an ice white package today, I would have to buy a used one and trade in my current MME.

There are a bunch of nonresponsive replies in this thread. I think the consensus from folks is that you would not be missing anything in your 22, except the range difference.

Did you buy the '23 merely to get the tax credit and then trade it in or sell it?

If yes - sorry no tax credit
If no - you possibly can get this tax credit

Only you can answer this question and keep in mind you will need to justify if you claim the credit and get audited/questioned by the IRS. Intent is hard to prove but remember the IRS plays by their own rules unlike a court of law.

I was under the impression the range difference was just due to how its measured. The whole, "its cool so use your seat heaters/steering wheel and no heat".

Funny, I wanted the Ice White package in my '22 order, but when I got converted, that option disappeared.

My dealer kept telling me to get the Nite Pony package which was totally opposite of what I wanted.
I think dealers are just dumb - why would I want black when I wanted white ??

So I ended up with the light grey interior, kept it stock, base Premium '23 and called it a day.
