It's still totally unknown if this thing will qualify after the March battery rules, right?
No, it's not unknown. It will qualify, but is expected to only qualify for a 50% credit.

That's assuming the rules come in March, and are effective in March, and don't change.

I'm a newbie - and I apologize for coming with nothing but questions but, since the credit will possibly drop by 50% in the near future would it be smart to pay just a little over sticker? Have a dealer offering me $995 over. I found dealers that are selling for sticker but they have no inventory. And if I, I or someone else in my shoes waits me / they could lose half the credit. Any urgency on this?

First, anyone charging over MSRP on a Mach-E, when they are widely available under MSRP, is ripping you off. Venture outside NY/NJ...

Second, you still need to qualify on income - $150k max single, $300k max joint.

Third, you need to have the tax liability to use it.

And last, sure, a known beats an unknown.

Yeah man. I appreciate you being so straight with me. Wife and I do qualify below the $300k. I guess I'll look at Pennsylvania and Connecticut? I'm following the ADM list thread., just trying to make a smart decision.

One other thing, check if you have state incentives and what they are. In Mass we get an additional $3,500 rebate, but the car must be purchased IN STATE. Would hate to cross a state line to save $900 and then lose more in a state rebate.

Oh man, I didn't even think of that. Yeah, we get $2,000 in NY, but I need to check if it's applicable to out of state purchases.

For what it's worth, I'm having an extremely hard time finding a dealer who will even do MSRP within the car's driving range (to get it home after buying), let alone has inventory ready to go.

I was in the same boat last March in Mass, they were all 10k over MSRP, so I went to maine for MSRP, then found one for a friend who did the same. Right after we both submitted they added the requirement that must be purchased in state. Another option may be a used MME, you could get it out of state, and prices have come way down. I would trust a used EV over a used ICE since less issues for wear and tare.

NY has in state rule. At this point I think the most cost effective way to get a new MME is accepting the deal offered by one particular dealer who's asking $995 over MSRP. It sucks but I'm guaranteed the full $7500 federal and $2000 state.

Dont forget you can be cruising in your MME by tonight with this option!

#BecauseChargersDoNotExist? I'm missing "within the car's driving range" issue.

I'm guessing they don't want to have to stop to charge on the way home because of the horror stories they've heard about DC fast charging...

I'm not refusing to use a DC charger. But I only started looking for the vehicle last night. Wouldn't you start within the vehicle's charging range, and then branch out from there?

However I've just been advised that buying from another state will nullify my in state tax credit.

While not driving farther than I needed to, charging range would not ever come into my determination of how far to go looking. Totally irrelevant.

Curious what way is used to find in stock MME?
www.ford.com lets you search up to 500 miles.

www.cars.com lets you search anywhere, but of course they have to have listed the vehicle.

Your dealer can search nationwide. Many dealers will do a dealer trade, assuming they can cut a deal with another dealer, for your car. My 2013 F-150 came from 170 miles away. My 2018 Fusion Energi came from 499 miles away.
