I'm not exactly Jonesing for it, but if it arrives, great. To me at least it's a bit of a party trick, so whatever. If we are running an office pool I'll take the square with "November 2023" on it.

We need a poll of whether existing users will let their subscriptions lapse if BC 1.2 isn't available.

I will not be spending 600+ tax for a 3 yr subscription of BC 1.0.

Mine will lapse at the end of this month.

I hope @Ford Motor Company marketing is tracking this 'event horizon' of potential BC users...

Add me to the list. $200/yr just to have the pleasure of using it, maybe getting a few extra miles of hands free driving that I'll use once every six months? Hell no!

If they're going to sell it as a subscription feature, then there MUST be continuous improvement that is worth the cost of admission.

Exactly! This is why in my mind subscriptions for heated seats are not okay, but I am okay with the idea of blue cruise. Because it represents an ongoing cost of development.

..... Provided I get the benefits I've said development

When we were waiting for Whipple to ship our Gen2 Lightning super chargers there was a "2 more weeks" chant that I still can't get out of my head.

Edit: If this comes to the 21's someone here needs to fess up to being the one that paid the $600 ransom. (that sub bought the dev group pizza or something so they'd just add the line of code in that includes the 21/22's)

We should probably close this entire thread as being inaccurate.

If you watch this video, the guy shows that he had to install a new piece of hardware (IPMA), to get BC 1.2 on his '21 F-150. MME is likely similar, if not identical in that regard.

The next thing people are going to say is that they could still backport the new software to previous IPMA modules, but after watching the video, I think that's unlikely. Just guessing at a high level, that the new IPMA has significantly more processing power that enables it to do smoother distance adjustments, the lane bias, and the lane changing capability (aka BC 1.2).

If you renew a 3yr BC subscription, I think you'll be buying the map updates and original functionality. Sorry folks, this is how it is until proven otherwise.

If you feel strongly that new software on original hardware is possible, then withhold your BC subscription renewal payment until the situation is clarified officially by Ford.

Wouldn't an IPMA that was intended to go into a '23 just have the newer software?

He later clarified, hardware is NOT required, this was the only way he could get the new software version preloaded. He also wanted to keep his old unit in case the 1.2 became wonky.

Yes, which is what he probably did to get it going. And that suggests a similar route would work on the 21/22 MME, but what's the part cost on a new IPMA?

I see the F-150 followup post where he said hardware wouldn't be required, but I'll wait until we see it to be a believer.

If I understood his explanation, he bought the 2023 IPMA because there was no way to install BC 1.2 using FDRS.

Yeah that is what I got from it too. Since FDRS is controlled by ford and so unless the specific hardware was authorized already for the software, it can't be installed without a hardware swap.

Perfectly not confusing. lol
