Is PAAK now a reasonable app?

Mine used to work but stopped after some update, so I reset the PaaK system and it never worked again. No matter how many times I’ve reset and tried to add the phone again, it never connects to the car after downloading the virtual key. ?
Had a similar issue, I ended up removing all PAAK entries in FordPass, force stopping FordPass and shutting down the car. Restarted FordPass, started the PAAK process and only turned on the car when requested in the app, and it finally went through completely.

YMMV obviously.

I would say once I was able to set it up myself correctly. And the passcode just in case. Yes it always worked. It is as if it knew I didn't set a passcode that PAAK didn't work. That one time only.

Now I keep the FOB as well. It has a much quicker response time with the vehicle.

I do like saying Hey Google turn on Bluetooth and then vehicle syncs with it.

Pixel 7 here and unfortunately a very unreliable and frustrating PAAK. How often have I stood there with my groceries, pushing buttons repeatedly, and once finally inside, being served the "No key detected" message...

Considering the major issues with PAAK, Ford should just give 2 fobs.
Even better: one fob and one "credit-card" key. That way, it'd work for sure and PAAK would become an option.

And don't get me started about the management of phones & profiles when there's more than one inside. The car gets totally confused and doesn't let us change profiles. A big deal, because it's not just the seat adjustment, my wife and I have totally different driving settings.

I know, first world problems, but still...

Not sure I understand what’s going on, but For me, if it picks the wrong user when my wife has her fob and I only have my phone, I press 1 on seat memory, and everything changes (wife has all of the auto stuff off, she just wants basic cruise control, and no automatic braking, just alerts, etc). So the seat changes and the user, and settings, etc. I have a 2022 Select.

Pixel 6/Job 1 and use PAAK daily.

Setting PAAK up is unnecessarily complicated. And updating it when you switch phones is byzantine (both times, I've basically deleted/reset all phone data for ALL phones in the car to start over).

Once setup though, I'd say that it works absolutely perfect (quick one-button-press unlock, "auto-approach-lighting", walk-away locking) 90% of the time, about 8% of the time, there is a slight delay and/or a 2nd lock button press to unlock.

The remaining 2% is either that I rebooted my phone and haven't launched the Ford app, so the "background" PAAK isn't running yet (pretty simple to fix, but annoying in that it's a delay) or PAAK doesn't respond at all (very, very rare). In both cases, I'll use the door code and once in the car, everything after that seems to work OK (never had to use the interior/big-screen backup code to start the car).

So PAAK works "pretty darn well" and with a door code backup as a confidence boost, I rely on it all the time and do not take the FOB with me.

Only time I use the FOB is when dropping car off for service.

Samsung S21 at the time, PaaK was hit or miss when I got the job1 Mach E March of 2021, but by 2022 (phone app and vehicle updates) was working pretty reliably (did drain phone battery a bit, but I have dozens of home automation, camera, etc apps all sucking it down all the time). Sold my Mach E Sept 2022 so no data since then.

Works perfect for me, never had issues, I would say almost at the level it worked for Tesla Model 3 - which imho is a benchmark in this context.
I stopped carrying physical key and never regretted (knock on wood)

It even works better than BMW i4/iX alternatives.
I have 2022 MME, iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Two years owning my MME and I only use PAAK - iPhone 13.

It occasionally disconnects (once, twice a month), so I open the door using the numeric keypad. If inside the vehicle and the key is not detected, I open FordPass and press the unlock button, which normally does the trick. If still not detected, I fully close/re-open FordPass and select the unlock button again. Vehicle then detects/starts no problems.

I have used the startup code twice in two years. I find the workaround (above) easier than carrying a key fob. On a scale of 1-10, I give PAAK a nine.

I’ve used PAAK exclusively since the second week of ownership, which will be a year tomorrow. Initially iPhone XR and now iPhone 13. Never been locked out or unable to start car. Never even had to use any pass codes. At worst have just had to restart FordPass and lately it’s worked very well. Still sometimes requires more than one press to open the door.

they are definitely giving 2 fobs on 2023 models, at least in the USA. and you've seen the customer satisfaction program that hopefully applies to you.

ironic though since once we got PAAK working it seems to just work, though i did have to use the door code and the backup start code once.
