Has anyone else experienced major performance degradation from the OE Pirelli’s on their GTPE? My tires have about 10,000 miles on them. Tread is still decent and there’s no visual issue, but I get a bunch of front wheel spin off the line now. I did a timed run just to check and the best I could do was 5.8-seconds to 60 and it was 70 degrees today (in live in Georgia so it doesn’t get too cold here)!!! Anyone else seeing similar poor results?

Odd. Unless your tires have been subjected to some serious heat soak and cooled off too quick, they should be getting stickier as they wear (since there's less tread squirm). Mine seem to corner just a little better than they did a year ago. ?‍♂?

What is “decent” tread as measured in 32nds? Even 50% of original depth is noticeable. Several here have had to replace tires by 20K.

Something else going on there. I have all seasons on a regular GT and draggy verified at 3.7. Even if your tires were crap , it would run way quicker then that.

Thanks for all the good feedback.
Thor2j, you have a good point that adds to me doubting my initial theory on tires. The car doesn’t pull as hard as it used to. It’s like it has a few jail bars - without having any jail bars…
Maquis, I’ll check exact tread depth tonight.

Haha, amateurs. My tires are about bald at 13k miles. I was going to get new wheels and tires but decided to just get new tires next month when we have a 1 week shutdown at work.

Just a odd question - didn’t Georgia experience some cold temps over the winter? If so I am wondering if that could have damaged your tires? No experience myself in this area (performance summer tires) but just the reading I have done has indicated the tires on the GT PE may be easily damaged at low temps.

Yeah. GA had some really cold days. I didn’t drive the MME on those days, but it certainly got driven on numerous cold mornings but pretty much always above 32F.
I checked my tread depth - I’m at 6/32s.

Check pressures and heat up the tires. Go into a parking lot and do figure 8s. You don't have to do it fast, just pull some Gs and heat them up.

Uuuu I loved that road when I was an irresponsible 20-something Californian motorcyclist! Almost as fun as Ortega Highway.
