Using my phone as a key has always been a bit spotty but now my phone won't connect to the car unless on CarPlay. It won't update my range or location and cannot be used as a key. I tried closing and deleting the app and restarting my phone but no luck. Any suggestions/explanations?

Thanks all!

Suddenly? No. Recently? No. Persistently? Yes.

Yes, since 4.25 on my iPhone. I'm back to mashing the door button a million times until it finally opens.

It's hard, but I've found that holding the button down a little longer sometimes helps- like it has a lag built in to hold the merely curious at bay.

Of course, standing on one foot, waving incense with one hand while you hold the phone against the car door while simultaneously pushing the button, unlocking your phone, updating FP, and opening a customer service ticket with the BEV team seems to help almost as much.

My biggest complaint is I have an iPhone and my wife has a Samsung and after she drives I have to use the app to unlock the car. It's the same for her after I drive. If we both approach the car together, it defaults to the last one who drove sometimes shoving me up to her seat position so I have to hit my saved number on the door. Seems the software could detect which phone is at the drivers door and that both phones are authorized to unlock and open the door.

it is difficult to diagnose, but it may be a result of either a Sync update in the car, or a BT update on your phone. I would suggest several steps of 'resetting' to see what clears it up.

1. turn your phone all the way OFF and back on, restart FordPass app, make sure BT is ON.... any better?

2. do the 'soft reboot' of Sync in the car by; Hold down the volume down button and the advance track button on the steering wheel simultaneously for 10ish seconds. Sync will go black and reboot. ... any better ?

3. try hard reboot of the TCU module by pulling the fuse, waiting 10 minutes, and putting the fuse back in. This fuse is located in passenger footwell:

...and if THAT doesn't work, you have to completely un-install and re-install FordPass on your phone after un-pairing all BT connections from the car and deleting backup code for PAAK.... re-installing and re-configuring PAAK as if it is a new delivery per this procedure:

My PAAK took a dive this past weekend as well. It had been working consistently well on my Pixel 6, but now....nothing. When I go into Ford Pass, it says 'Bluetooth Disconnected', but never connects (like it would in the past). However, when I get in my car using my fob, my phone connects fine with wireless Android Auto. Strange.

I was having many of the issues OP was having and step 3 was the one that fixed it for me. The only problem is it's a bit of a pain to get the fuse out, IMO.

OP, I would get a magazine or something to kind of block the area below the panel because if you drop the fuse in the space below, it could be long gone.

Mine started getting a little finicky over the weekend. Actually saw the “no key detected” message for the first time in, probably, more than a year. Been having to wait more than usual for the door to open also.

There have been a wave of Android updates from 12 to 13. I would suspect that phone updates are at the bottom of these recent problems.

I had nothing but problems with PAAK on 4.25 with my Pixel 7 Pro, I wrote about them here https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...pass-4-25-0-on-pixel-7-pro.27246/#post-624101

It was so bad that I grabbed the 4.24.3 apk and downgraded back, my PaaK was successful basically all the time on 4.24.3, but right after the upgrade it almost never worked, unless I restarted my phone. After downgrading back to 4.24.3, it seems to be back to "mostly reliable with the occasional slight delay".

....and restarted my phone last night and PAAK is working fine today. Turn off. Turn back on. The classic fix (for me).
