I had a recent trip where I left for home later than I'd planned, so I was driving in the dark (not good for me) and did not have a hotel reservation on my route. When I got too tired to keep driving, I stopped at a public L2 station, napped for about six hours while charging (heated seats!) And then continued on.Well, a road trip, is it the average 250-400 mile day out on the road working………….or what about a 925mile trip in 23 1/2 hours!
In an ICE I definitely would’ve stayed out overnight that day but in a leccy vehicle meant the frequent 20-30min Power nap at a rapid charger every 200 miles or so meant it was achievable in one hit!
Never going ICE again and with no other EV so good looking as the ‘Stang will probably have a ‘Stang unless an EV Triumph Stag comes along.
You got me beat. My best was 800 miles, New York to Chicago.Thought all you across the pond were going to make me look a lightweight with my 925 mile day - and none of it was at the double-nickel if that’s even a thing any more, or the UK equivalent for that matter!
I didn’t even think you could do anything like that sort of mileage here without ending up in the sea?
Did see some men in skirts in Scotchland, though?
Yes.I was about to post about a road trip that's coming up and it got me thinking... What is a road trip?
Is it 150 miles and two hours from home?
Is it 1500 miles and 20 hours from home?
Does it require an overnight stay?
My upcoming overnight trip is about 350 miles one way. That's right at the edge of what I think of as a road trip.
What about you?
My longest one day drive ever was an ~900 mile drive from northern CA to AZ through Nevada with snow storms in the Sierra Nevadas in the morning and in the San Francisco mountain at night. Took ~16 hours and that cured me of marathon drives. You got me beat. My best was 800 miles, New York to Chicago.
925 is pretty good, but now that you mention it, it does seem gratuitous on a British Isle...
