Can't deal with the bouncy ride anymore after two weeks with the Mach-E. What do I do?

Hi Mike, you cannot use self adjusting or active shocks like that. They do nothing for the stiff springs, short travel that the Mach-E has. Only manually rebound adjustable shocks will improve the ride and lessen the bounce of this car.

I’m curious by this statement, only because the active mag ride shocks do solve the issue.

That said, not sure what if anything the active shocks he mentioned have in common with magneride shocks.

Edit; looks like they have very little in common in terms of how they work, but the actual goals of the shocks are similar (stiffer handling but smoother ride).

Either way the ICE Mustangs seem to like them:

Those shocks aren’t really “active.” It’s more like they are velocity self-adjusting than anything. A shock like that would need to be in the ballpark when at its most neutral setting, whereupon it would sort of self-adjust based off of the position of the plunger in its travel and the velocity of the plunger. The orifices in the plunger open and close based upon these parameters. The problem being that the MME does not put the plunger mid-travel when using the ICE Mustang shock, which might lead to interesting velocity and position-dependent valving. ??

If you think the MME ride is bouncy, don’t bother looking at a Tesla Model Y even with the “improved 2023 more comfortable suspension”.

I own both cars and the ford is vastly worse once you have lived with both setups and drive on the same roads. My model y isn’t even the new model with the revised suspension. Model Y is stiff and rides rough but there isn’t that crazy bounce/oscillation coming from the back of the ford. Also, there are tons of aftermarket solutions available on the tesla if you are unhappy.

I truly love almost everything about my Mach-E First Edition AWD ER, but my wife, son and I literally get car sick when we take it out for anything more than a ride through the neighborhood because it is so incredibly bouncy. As we drive along the expressway, you can actually see the light from our headlights bouncing up and down constantly because it is such a bouncy ride. I don't know what to do about this? Heck, I am happy to buy new shocks that are designed for touring, as opposed to performance, if that will help. I don't really want to have to consider this, but is returning a car an option? Is there something wrong with my Mach-E? I know others have reported a bouncy drive, but others don't seem to notice this at all from what I can tell? I have lowered the PSI in my tires to 37 hoping to address the comfort of the ride, but that has not helped.

Help! I don't know what to do to fix this. Admittedly, I am not a "car guy," so figuring this out is a mystery to me. I truly want to love this car and had such high hopes for it and would love to find a way to address the bounciness of the ride because I love everything else about it and have not really faced any of the other issues that people have reported. I am honestly happy to buy new shocks or something to smooth the ride out, but what other options do I have here? Would new shocks even help smooth things out?
Take it back to dealer three times and then you qualify for the lemon law. Thats in Pa. Bitch every time you return it. If they cant fix the problem the only way out is 1. Lemon law 2. Trade to get a 2023 Tesla Y AWD long range which we just got as a second ev. You cant beat the price at $50000 after full tax credit. This price includes cystom silver paint looks bluish gray and custom black wheels. We have the GTPE and ride is awesome. Considering both the rides pretty good. No bounce, smooth and almost like the GTPE when its on whisper.

Doesn’t work that way if nothing is broken.

“I don’t like how it rides” isn’t a warranty issue so it won’t qualify for lemon law.

I drive in Unbridled, but yesterday I was on a road that was so bad it was actually tossing me around in the driver's seat. I was like "Come on road, JC!" and switched to Whisper. It helped a little but man, I hadn't experienced the bounce like that until yesterday ?

The mode doesn’t change the suspension unless you have a GTPE.

Weird, it definitely felt less harsh, oh well, psychologically smoother works for me too ?
It changes the throttle response and steering weight, so you’re likely feeling those differences.

I'm no expert, but I think that the reason some feel like the bounce changes depending on drive mode has to do with the combo of increased accelerator and regen response in the more aggressive modes. I suspect this leads to more out of sync oscillations between the front and rear, causing the most motion-sickness-inducing bounce.

Mark very graciously installed the Koni shocks on my car yesterday and the ride on certain roads is definitively better, but honestly there's not much that any change can do to tame the unbridled streets of San Francisco! (Road conditions here are embarrassingly bad.) That said, the ride definitely isn't any worse and I'm happy with the change.

I look forward to getting my Konis installed in the next week or so!
