...With something like ~36 separate modules in the car, managing dependencies must really be a challenge for pushing out updates.
I think I counted about 45 modules in my Mach E (via FDRS). Agree wholeheartedly with BSHAW above.

Well let me counter with this; Really, the only modules that can't be updated OTA aren't really that critical. WACM? ACM? DSP? Who cares if those get OTAs. They aren't directly impacting the performance of the car in any meaningful way.

But look at the number of cars with complete sets of powertrain updates (PCM, BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMB, SOBDMC, ABS) that have not been applied since the HVJB related recall from last summer. Those aren't rolling out as OTAs are they? No they aren't.

Yes configuration management is an issue and a challenge. But if those OTA-capable available updates can be applied using FDRS then why haven't more of them been packaged and sent out?

And while we're on the topic of getting OTAs done, why does the Sync check updates section still list 0100 in the morning as the default time to check for updates when it's pretty well established that the 12V battery SOC will likely be below the threshold for the logic to process an update if it's available? Why not set Sync to check everyday at something like 0830?

This whole update methodology needs a rethink.

I've gotten two minor OTA updates since I purchased the Mach E in April, 2021, really pathetic in my opinion. Ford is nowhere near Tesla when it comes to OTA updates. I decided to invest in FDRS hardware and software much more satisfying and it's fun too. Wish all vehicles had this ability without the stupid manufacturer insisting you go to your local dealer and get ripped off. Really fed up with Ford Dealerships big time. My dealer wanted my Mach-E for a half a day to program a second key fob Ford had so graciously afforded me. I told the service manager I could do it in 5 mins, he just glared at me and didn't say a word!

A 21 Job 1 Premium, like mine, should have had way more than one or two minor updates. It sounds like you have something stuck and either need to take it to the dealer or need to have a friendly forum member with the equipment to run FDRS pay you a visit.

Thanks for your concern and advice. I'm pretty much a power programmer for the Mach-E (LOL). I got tired of waiting for Ford to fix their OTA programming, so I spent a lot of money on software and equipment to get my vehicle up to date. I enjoy it, have a computer background and some electric vehicle training so I'm learning as I go, lots more to learn for sure. Plenty of great experts here on the forum, like Mike G, MachNCheese, and others to numerous to mention.

Then, to be fair, you can’t really comment on OTAs your car has received since you’ve effectively taken yourself out of the pool of receiving them.

I believe that is from the certificate server not responding properly. It should sort itself out. I'm going to do the updates tomorrow morning and will report if it does the same thing, but I doubt it will.
Did all the new updates on my 2022 today (plus the HVAC and outstanding Door Controllers that I’d left for a later date) - no issues with errors or persistent updates not clearing down. ?

Did the powertrain updates on my car. BECM initially failed (FDRS might not be waiting long enough to enter programming mode), immediately retried without touching the car and succeeded.

PCM update was still showing after programming, had to do another network scan afterwards to get it to disappear.

Recommend doing FDRS updates on weekdays to avoid server maintenance periods.

16 May and all four of the '23 model VINs I checked this morning are showing a new GWM module update. Obviously it will also likely be an OTA, but it's too soon to know what number it will be.

So far no similar updates are showing up for 21/22 models yet.

It's just the server.

If you still show a PCM update available but the download button has turned 'green' and now says "Run" that means you've already done that one and attempting to do it again will give you that error.

Select the "Re-Run Network Scan" button once or twice until it clears off the list, do a "Clear and Retest", with the car fully turned on, to reset any CMDTCs you have as a result of programming and then shut down.

And version 35.5.5 is available for download now.
