Ford Power-up 4.2.6

I got 4.2.6 and do my level 2 charging with my EVSE set to 40 amps. Before the update anytime I checked my charging speed I was always at 8KW. Now after the update it is either 6KW or 8KW depending on when I check the app.

I guess this update throttled the charge speed some even on level 2?

Edit - most often at 6kw instead of 8kw. Definitely taking longer to charge up.

Not seeing much change WRT range with this update. It appears to react a bit faster to changing conditions, but is still reactive vs proactive. No changes when adding a route to a 200mi trip from the mountains yesterday (3k ft altitude, 20deg temp change). If this is the update, they still have some work to do.

Edit - most often at 6kw instead of 8kw. Definitely taking longer to charge up.

That means your charge port is likely overheating. Car is responding properly now.

guess i've joined the ranks of those who never get updates anymore. last one was 4.2.2.2 on march 20th. seems like there have been a couple since then. 2023 GTPE.

Would that be due to a number of factors like outside temp, quality of EVSE, temp of battery? Shouldn't this have been in the software in the first place? Or is it just more conservative now? Surely it doesn't get close to as hot as doing DC charging.

I use the 40 amp CB setting too. The car at this setting will charge at 32 amps which is 7KW

Meh, I might be OTA stuck again. 4.2.5, and car has been connected to Wi-Fi every night. If it doesn’t get unstuck in 2 months it might be worth it to bust out the Mongoose again. Hope to get BC 1.2 in FDRS before doing that.

i guess that's because you are in EA then?

still strange that so many updates have gone by (well, at least 2 i think) without receiving one. seems like they roll out to the earlier models first, but you'd think they would complete one before starting another. but who knows, it's ford after all.

I was wondering. My last update (2023 CA Rt 1) was 4.2.2.2 on March 17. I'm open to the idea that 2023s don't need these.

I'm in EA but not sure if it matters. I just received 4.2.5 three days ago, about 6 weeks after it first started to push? Now I've got a notice that 4.2.6 will be installing tonight. Both these updates evidently require the vehicle to be off, which is why I'm getting the incoming OTA alerts through SYNC.

I guess it's nice to be up to date, although I couldn't care less about these two most recent updates. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason as to who gets updates when.

Outside temp being warm could be a factor. It’s the quality of the plug connection, either the charge port or the J1772 plug could have damage, dirt, or a fitment issue.

Previous software versions either had a glitch that didn’t handle a warm plug properly, or they made the amperage derate curve more conservative to better protect the charge port from being melted.

AC charging can get just as hot as DC charging if there is a bad connection. Bad connections can get hot enough to melt the plastic in the charge port.

The Mach-E can handle 48A no problem with a proper setup. If you cannot charge at 48A without issues (on a 60A breaker) you have some type of problem with your equipment, wiring, or charge port.
