Had an odd one today. It was 70° and sunny outside and my car was parked in the driveway so I remote started it to cool I down.

When I got in the car was hot and the car was blowing hot air. I turned the car on and the seat heater and the heated wheel was on. I noticed the outside temp read 49°, which obviously was wrong. I started driving thinking maybe it just needed to update the outside temp, but after a minute of driving with hot air blowing on me I manually went into the climate settings and turned it to LO and cranked the fan. At that point cold air started coming out, so I knew it wasn’t an issue with the AC.

After driving for about 2 minutes the outside temp finally started updating and quickly shot up from 49° to the correct temp of 70°. At that point I put the climate back in Auto and it was as behaving normal and blowing cold air.

From the looks of it, it thought it was much colder out than it actually was and was adjusting the climate to match that.

I don’t know if this had anything to do with the 4.2.5 HVAC update or if it was just a fluke. Anyone else have this happen?

Do you have 4.2.6 yet?

I have noticed seemingly more temp glitches with the latest HVAC update. It doesn’t always update the interior and exterior temps properly sometimes.

Ya I got 4.2.6. I wonder if theres a bug in the 4.2.5 HVAC update. Good to know you’ve seen issues too.

@Gullwingdmc My ‘21 Job2 car did this last summer on a 98F day. My dog was not amused when we left work because I wouldn’t let him in the furnace, err I mean car. ??

This issue may occur when sync goes to sleep. It remembers the temp before sleeping. Remote start doesn't wake up sync (APIM). It only wakes up after you press the start button, not when you remote start. A pretty dumb choice IMO -- this is the same logic of the F150s as well. Even worse in the F150 hybrid, it doesn't like to turn on the DCDC converter to provide 12v power and will instead eat the AGM's battery via remote start. Ford's illogical "logic" is problematic across platforms.

Because it’s not the most secure connection and I don’t like leaving the dongle plugged in.
The dongle just reads info, it does not control anything. So the worst can happen is that the hacker reads the info from your car.
On the other hand FordPass does control the car through bluetooth. That is much more dangerous
