That was one of my basic concerns when I started this thread more than a year ago. The temperature near the pavement is important for the battery and cooling systems, but (1) irrelevant (and misleading) to the occupants of the car and (2) inconsistent with every other Ford vehicle I have owned. I have learned to live with it (Phoenix is hot!) but I still think it is a glaring weakness in the design of the car.
Yep. Would have been simple just to locate another sensor in a normal spot for the standard outside air temp.

Honestly I think the sensor is probably in the best possible location, it’s tough on a BEV with a closed front end. Where else are you going to put it where it has airflow directly over the probe tip while moving without making a protrusion or ugly visible hole in the front end? Because the grille shutters close fully it needs its own hole.

This is how mine has always worked, and it's incredibly frustrating for HVAC controls. I've always assumed it was just bad design/programming on their part.

When I get to work in the AM it may be 60F out. During the day it jumps to 92F out. I remote start the car about 15min before I leave. I get to the car and it's still pretty toasty inside and the temp reading still shows 60F. Auto HVAC isn't doing much. Drive about 5 minutes and suddently the AC is blasting since it now shows 92F out. It's pretty damned annoying! I even brought it up to my dealer at one point but was just told that's "how it works".
No, that’s NOT how it works. I have the same spot in my driveway… drive the kids to school in the am, pick them up in the afternoon… same routine daily… and when I get into the hot car, the outside temp always showed high temp outside and the car cooled quickly. This issue just started this week. If it doesn’t resolve itself, I guess I’ll have to bring it in. Hoping it’s just a glitchy ambient temp sensor. It’s only $15 at the dealer but seems like it’s hard to get at. The GT has a removable grille so wondering if would be an easy fix. Also wondering if disconnecting the 12v battery would reset the system.

Where exactly is the sensor that reads the temperature, or are there multiple sensors? Anyone have a photo to show this sensor or multiple sensors, on the MME?

Situated in a hole above the grille shutters, driver's side.

It’s a cheap readily available part. Wonder if it can be replaced without removing the bumper cover?
