Hey All,

I got the tires installed earlier this week. I love these tires, they are noticeably quieter, a little less vibration. I’m not sure I like this quieter because I now hear more of the wind and electric whine which is annoying haha. But I still welcome it!

I do notice a range improvement of more than 5%. I’ve tested via several commutes where normally (under same weather/temp, time of day with wind - conditions) a round trip commute would take 30% charge in the stock Michelin primacy tires, these hankooks take 28%. But with this all said, range can change over the regular wear of the tires. The 30% I’m comparing to is when I had my Michelins primacy tires at 1/32 or 2/32 in tread depth…

So far no real complaints. I love them.
Thanks all for the advice on wheel alignment. I’m very happy so far I found this tire recommendation on these forums.
Pics with front wheels turned out please!

I fitted these to my Mach E last week. They are notably quieter but I can't tell if that's because my old tires were old or these new ones with the foam actually makes a difference. The ride is smoother though but it seems like they "tram" a little more and follow the grooves in pavement more than the old Michelins did.

ordering a set to replace michelin pilot 4S, which were outstanding for 30k miles. curious how the EV specific hankooks will compare. willing to trade some performance for efficiency, durability and quietness this go around

so initial hankook ion evo suv in 245/45/20 impressions:
- subtle, but definitely quieter
- softer, smoother than the pilot 4s in terms of ride quality, absorbing little imperfections in the road better as well as noise from them
- not as sharp turn-in, so less fun handling
- plenty sticky dry traction with hard cornering (haven't tried wet)
- appearance-wise, a significant amount of rubber sticks out, not sure if that’s actual contact patch width or just prominent side wall but it will protect your rim if you get too close to a curb

overall, if you prefer sporty driving stick with the pilot 4s - outstanding tires that were consistently good even at the wear markers. but these ions should last 20k miles (50k vs 30k) more and potentially provide more range. they also cost about $400 less for the set, so definitely more economical if it all plays out.

Pics with wheels turned out?

thoughts on how the tread pattern will do in hydroplaning situations?

Went from the 18” CR1 wheels and Michelin tires to the 20” GTPE wheels and Hankook Ion Evo AS SUV tires.

The ride is definitely smoother and small bumps are much less noticeable. It is also noticeably quieter, especially at lower speeds. Efficiency wise, I probably haven’t had them on for too long to notice any major changes. It almost seems like I’m getting the exact same efficiency as I was with the stock setup on 18” wheels, but time will tell.

Overall, I’m super happy with the tires and love the look of the GTPE wheels.

Those GTPE wheels really dress up your car! About your range, my opinion is you won't see much of a difference if at all. Even though the GTPE wheels are less aerodynamic than your CR1 wheels, those Hankook Ion Eco AS SUV tires seem very efficient from members I have talked to and probably better than the OEM tires were.

Thank you! Now I’m curious if people that have kept their OEM wheels have seen a range increase after switching to these tires

Tire pressure has a measurable impact also. When I replace my tires, I am planning to go from 245s to 255s, which have a recommended pressure of 36 psi. So I could run them at 41 like my stock tires, but I am planning to run them at 36. If range goes down, part of the decrease could be related to tire pressure. I am hoping that doesn't happen, of course.

From what I have read, the efficiency "experts" claim tire pressure is one of the biggest factors reducing overall vehicle efficiency, especially in BEVs. I have measured a difference when playing around with the pressure in my stock tires, so maybe that set of experts got it right.

Those nebulous "experts" annoy me. I prefer real people who know what they are doing in real life, like those in this forum. ?

I agree although my efficiency went up recently and my tires right now are 36F, 32R. I am posting this in the Aftermarket wheel and tire info thread when I get around to it later.

Its time to get my GT some new shoes and I don't want summers anymore since I drive it year round and don't want to manage a second set of wheels and tires. I was looking at these and they SAY they're all season, but this cross section of the tire leaves me suspicious....

Ride comfort and rolling resistance will be improved as promised, but these things would hydroplane like a mother in heavy rain and any bit of snow is going to pack into those tight little cervices and turn this tire into greased owl crap. I guess its Michelin or Conti's for me.

You are incorrect, they do not hydroplane “like a mother” or really at all when I was purposefully aiming for deep water this spring. They are quite efficient (I’m currently getting quite a bit better overall range with them on my EV6 GT than my MME GT PE with CC2s.) In the rain (and it rained a LOT here this spring) and in deep puddles I notice little to no overall difference between them and the CC2s. I have also used the ION EVO AS SUVs at high speeds 80-90) in quite heavy rain on the freeway and they did quite well.

Snow will probably not be stellar is my guess. There really isn’t a high efficiency tire that is blessed with good efficiency low RR and good snow/ice performance that I’m aware of at least not an AS.
