4.2.6 is the tsb? I know both touch the same modules I just find it unusual that on ota update for a known issue would be pushed before the official tsb release. Hasn't happened before no?

My 2023 MME Select AWD has the whine between 30 and 38 MPH. Anyone else with a 23 model year have the whine? I note the TSB only refers to MYs '21 and' 22.
I have the exact whining noise on my 2023 RWD. It sounds like a motor in a little toy car sometimes.

same here. I have a 2023 and have the whine. I wonder if it is referring to year of production and not model year.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.
May I also send you my info for you to look into it as well?

Never noticed it on mine, so it's either not affected or I just don't hear it.

They said this doesnt apply to GTs since you have a different front motor.

I have the whine on my 23 between 30-40mph.
I also noticed a high pitch whistle sound when accelerating above 65mph.
Hello! Send us a private message with your MachE’s VIN and current mileage. Allow me to see what I can do to assist. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

Just got a brand new Mach E 2023 Premium AWD ER. I have this exact same issue with my 2023. High pitch noise between 30-40mph, so I don't think 2023 cars seem to be spared. Has anyone gotten this fixed using the new TSB for a 2023 model year?

2023 MME Select AWD

I went to the dealer with the problem at the suggestion of Ford. After 2 days the dealers said there were no trouble codes and gave me the car back. I doubt the whine causes trouble codes. I did this under the 2022 TSB, again at Ford suggestion. Is there now a 2023 TSB on the issue?

No, I don't think the TSB is supposed to apply to 2023 model years, but I definitely have the noise on my 2023 car. That's why I was wondering if anyone successfully got Ford to try this process on a 2023 car. I'm wondering if Ford just isn't aware/hasn't officially acknowledge the problem on the 2023 cars when they wrote that TSB.

When you took your car in did they reprogram the powertrain control module like the TSB says for 2021-2022 model years?

They didn't do anything but check the trouble codes.

Reassuring (NOT) to note the standard is consistent the world over?

They said mine’s tyre noise, it so isn’t!

And after I called to book in for service and tell them about the deteriorated puddle light lenses, a fault with which they are conversant, I decided to drop in at dealer the week before to ensure they were prepared for what they had to to do and on file they had “puddles under car”!

What chance to we have??‍♂

The car, though ?

Every trip out’s as good as the first, smiling all the way like a kid with new toy?

Good afternoon. Could you privately message us with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer so I can look into this noise concern? Thanks!

A dealer took a look and said all of the relevant software was already up to date, so they didn’t know what to do. However, they did seem to think the noise was abnormal and said they would escalate the issue within Ford and get back to me. I’ve driven other EVs and think an electric motor sound is really cool, but this is very high pitched (almost like a dog whistle), and it’s really hard to get used to. Disappointed I didn’t hear this during my test drive (they had the music on to show off the awesome CarPlay integration). Sigh.

Out of curiosity, does anybody with more car/software knowledge than myself know what the TSB means by, “Reprogram the PCM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool”? Is ”reprograming” different than just looking for an update?
