I always chuckle when people say they don't use DC fast charging "because there are none near me". DC fast charging is for traveling. I used one near my house to get free power once, but otherwise haven't used one within closer than 50 miles.

True, except for the people that don't own a home, and don't have access to a home charger. They rely on DC fast charging exclusively. I wonder how big that segment is?

Certainly a, or the, major issue for adoption of EV by the masses.

Ford should schedule ALL previously built mach e's to come in and retro fit the charging plug to a Tesla plug ?
Sure!!! If Ford had a policy of updating old models with new stuff, over time my first car, a 1963 Falcon, would have been transformed into a Mach e GT!

Why do many feel that Ford owes them. They are adding access to Tesla chargers not taking away access to CCS. You don’t have to take advantage of that new access. It’s not their responsibility to provide the means to do it. Prior to the MME the only update I ever got was Sync 2 to Sync 3 on a Fusion Energi.

I mean, we all grouse on these forums. Truth is though, for the segment, there really isn’t a better put together crossover than the MME. No one owes us any sort of improvement from the vehicle we bought. If you didn’t like the vehicle you bought, then why did you buy it?

We just got our MME a couple of weeks ago and concluded that without a home charger it wouldn't happen. There are no DCFC's in my county and the closest one is about 40 miles away. Without a home charger an EV makes no sense here, that's why there are still ICE cars.

Well probably that many can’t afford them and there are not enough available to purchase may also be why there are still ICE vehicles. Also I can drive 450 miles non stop in my ice vehicle so that is what I road trip in (of course dearth of charging also prevents taking my Mach)

They didn’t. And they aren’t.
Thanks for correcting me, I didn't know NACS used J1772 . So my next EV will have no problem with my EVSE / charger I installed. This installation was no small undertaking. I have no garage and no electrician was willing to install the outlet. Mine is hardwired.

This is the reason some people I know won’t buy an EV. They have no place at home or work to charge. I live in what should be the EV charging center of the US, the Bay Area. There should be a Level 2 charger on every 4th city block at least. There should be DCFC in every town. Instead, we have total of something like 50 CCS DCFC that rate to be 120kw or above. The infrastructure is pathetic.

You’ll be able to use an adapter.

Exactly. No EVSE is going to become "obsolete". Why do people keep making that bogus claim?

The connector is an open standard. Authentication through the supercharger network is not an open standard, so they could absolutely prevent anybody from using the NACS plugs at their superchargers.
Isn't that what I said?
