Sharing some news this morning as the price on the F-150 Lightning has been lowered as of today.

Here’s what you need to know:
  • Ford is taking advantage of increased plant capacity, continued work on scaling production and cost, and improving battery raw material costs to help lower the MSRP of F-150 Lightning for all customers.
  • Any Lightning currently on order and scheduled for production will be re-invoiced to the updated pricing.
  • The Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan is temporarily closed to complete final plant upgrades to triple the plant’s annual run rate to a targeted 150,000 F-150 Lightning trucks beginning this fall.
  • With ordering now open for all customers, Ford is offering a $1,000 bonus for retail customers who build their own XLT, Lariat or Platinum truck through their dealer or via ford.com. Customers will now have greater availability of their built-to-order truck as early as October.
  • from July 6 to July 31 as part of the national summer sales event. In addition, Ford Credit is offering eligible buyers interest rates as low as 1.9 percent APR for 36-months.
  • Most F-150 Lightning models are also eligible for as much as $7,500 in potential Inflation Reduction Act consumer and commercial electric vehicle tax credits.
  • Also, starting early next year, all F-150 Lightning customers will have access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada.

Pretty annoying to see negative headlines which ignore the content of the press release and instead are spinning price reductions as evidence of low demand for EVs ?

The content of a corporate press release is the epitome of "spin".

Price reductions are evidence of something. My economics professor was unequivocal about this.

But, those are the facts, no matter how you personally feel about those facts demand is dropping for EV’s.

demand is not dropping, sales of EVs overall is up ~50% year over year... again.

The demand is now divided over ~50 options vs ~5 a couple of years ago.

Plus increased production capacity as well.
there is an increase in EV demand, but not enough to keep the prices high as supply increases… that’s my Econ 101 take.

Actually, if this was weighed against over all car buuying it'd probably just show demand for everything is still there, only we've gotten a bit smarter and tighter with our money. Map this 'drop in demand' with interest rates and new car sales.

However I can get 2.9% for a new MME..

All these price drops & inventory have been tanking our residual values on the Mach E ? trade in values are now garbage.
The only thing that depreciates in value faster than a car is technology (phones, computers, etc.) and this car is some part both. There were a few weird market conditions that made it possible for a while to buy and sell MMEs at a profit, but this was never a car that was going to appreciate in value long term (true of almost all production cars).

Cybertruck and Silverado are to thank for this.
Yes this ^^^^

In my case, I have a first minute reservation for the Chevy Silverado EV WT but don't know if I will get the chance to see their base truck for $50K.

I am sure Ford is following suit to drop the Pro (base trim) to compete with Chevy....

The demand for EV is still high - the MMEs on the lot are due to the sky high interest rates, half tax credit, and other competitors stealing their sales.

Lightnings on the lot (few) that I saw were going for north of $85K so this price drop is a welcome sign.

BTW: my '22 Lightning I bought for $69K MSRP traded her in for my '23 MME resold for $72K after 5 days on the dealer lot....
