Ford is cutting shifts back on the production of the Lightning pickup trucks. If I understand this correctly this is not a cutback of planned growth but actually cutting existing production. Interestingly Ford is adding jobs and increasing production of the Broncos and Ranger pickup trucks.

They are going for 2 shifts to 1, after reducing from 3 to 2. 700 workers will be transferring.

700 are transferring, meaning they'll not be coming back to this line anytime soon.
The article if correct did say some would be taking early retirement hence the additional 700 workers.

That's it, the naysayers were right. EV market is doomed all companies will go bankrupt. Beginning of the end. We might as well all sign off and go home.
Not sure about all your embellishment to the topic of this thread but cutting production is telling of market trends for the Lightning.

The pricepoint isnt there. To get a decent lightning you are looking at almost 100k. You can get a very loaded f-150 ice for less than that
Absolutely true, but Ford is making big coin on ICE F-150’s and losing their ass on Lightnings!

High costs/inflation...
High interest rates on loans ...
Loss of half or all the tax credit on many EV models/trims...

It's just a much tougher market now for $60k-$100k vehicle purchases than it was a couple of years ago. And EVs just can't be made at significantly lower cost yet. Batteries are still too expensive to make them near an ICE price point.
