12 Sep '21, Job 2 car.

And if it's a Job 2 Select with comfort and tech it should have come with working BlueCruise from the plant. Could it be that you haven't added this car to your Ford account and enabled Connected Services yet? That would be a possible reason that BC isn't working yet. Based on the build date your BlueCruise 1.0 should expire three years after it was first activated (in-service date in your case).

You have a lot of updates in your list but the ones you want to pay attention to are the GWM (gateway) and the APIM (Sync) because in all of the things that are in that list the gateway and then the APIM are the first two that need to be updated before anything else is attempted for software dependency reasons.

If you car has been sitting on a dealers lot for a while I guarantee that your 12V battery needs the "Learned Values" reset on the battery management system. It's a quick procedure.

Forget putting your car on your home Wi-Fi for updates. It doesn't work. Set your check updates schedule to a daily time that's roughly 15-20 minutes into your commute (either to or from work) so that your 12V battery is back up above 80% SOC and your in a good cell coverage area. You'll have better luck getting updates that way.

Here's your list of available updates:
3FMTK1SSXMMA54643-3-Aug-23.png

Again, very important...that GWM needs to be updated before anything else, and then the APIM.

Mike,
I highly appreciate all your details and knowledge! I does come with BlueCruise - it's probs just the first release. (tried it for the first time last night on US22) - all basic functions worked fine.

The Car was drivin' by the Ford's dealers daughters to work and back currently having 8k miles on it. I still will follow up with your Battery suggestion.

Just one Question:

The GWM (gateway) and the APIM (Sync) Updates have to be completed before I can expect any updates to show on my vehicle? I would make them check it for my 10k Service

I just checked what the latest update was and it says 3.5.3. I will also follow your advise and put the automatic schedule to my morning or afternoon commute.

Thanks!

Due to software dependencies I would venture that no new updates are gonna show up until those two are updated.

Sorry about the HVJB thing but as many people know it's pretty inevitable. It's not really a matter of "if" but "when" it's going to need to be replaced. But the good news is that the newer replacements seem to be holding up well.

As for BlueCruise. I understand from previous postings that BC had been approved but wondered what Ford were going to do about the pre-'23 models. If I had to guess, I would suspect the intention is to delay doing any BC programming on the older cars until such time as the 1.3 software package is out of the oven and ready for OTA delivery. Meaning, Ford won't be paying techs to do all the cruise control related updates you have in your list now (CCM, CMR, PSCM) only to have to do them all over again later when the BC 1.3 campaign starts which will involve not only the modules above but also the IPMA, IPC, and the 'usual suspects' (GWM, APIM, TCU).

You do have a TCU update showing as available and hopefully your tech is read-in on always doing any GWM, APIM, or TCU update before starting in on anything else (it's a dependency thing).

The Frunk button is added to the Sync screen after the BCM and GFM have been updated by a tech simply running this little routine in FDRS:
Frunk_Button_Enable.png

You'll likely have to point this out to them, most of them don't know it's there, especially if they don't deal with MMEs often.

Here's the list of available software updates you have at the minute:
WF0TR3SU1MMA16209-1-Aug-23.png

Your tech should be updating (at the very least) all the powertrain related modules during the HVJB replacement (PCM, SOBDM, SOBDMB, SOBDMC, BECM, ABS). As well as running the BECM count reset tool after the HVJB is replaced:
MME_Reset_BECM_DTC_Count.webp

That GSM update is applied if the tech sees GSM errors (DTCs) in FDRS, or if you've gotten an error indication on the instrument panel. But it's no harm to update it in any event, doesn't hurt to do it even if it's not indicated.

The door updates all relate to issues with door security or having to press the door buttons repeatedly to get the door to open. And there is an OTA for that but I guess you haven't gotten it yet.

The OBCC update is for compatibility with some DC fast chargers and again, there's an OTA for that as well that you obviously haven't gotten (maybe due to that TCU update you still haven't gotten?).

Let me know how you get on.
Hi Mike,
My dealer master tech here in the UK was able to get my HVJB parts in 2 days and order them just by confirming Ford Pass Error. He said he did all the FSRS updates on your list too. Tganks to your help. I printed out your reply with screenshots and left it in the car. Repair took 1 day! Amazing zi thought. Finally some good luck for a change.

BUT then I just got a call from them saying that coming to car this morning there was a error a doir module failed. He’s tried updating it to no use. Says its even greyed out in the settings now, so module is not responding and needs to be replaced, with oart availability in ?( 5-7 days) they hope. ?

I see here of posts here about failed modules and module replacement not solving the problem, except one who stated it turned out to be the latch. Just seems odd timing for it all to happen just after a lot of module updating.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts.

I can’t thank you enough.

-James

Same as your 5-2-23 check, except GWM module dropped. Bill P
Going to dealer Friday, gonna have them update WACM, & RFA modules….., been having issues w/ those…..;)
Hey Mike G, it’s been several months since last VIN query…..
My understanding is that updates 4.35 & 4.3.6 might be for 2021 job 1 cars only.
My last update was - 23-PU0314-DCM-LAT, so it seems I might be up to date?!
Wondering what modules may have dropped off my list.

Make sure your tech updates that GWM (gateway) module before updating anything else.

James. It certainly looks like your tech knows what they're doing. You do have one door module update available still. I did notice that during the programming of that particular door (H is the door reference) that FDRS lost communication with the car during the programming. And that could account for the module appearing to fail obviously.
(programming of Door H expanded below)

You should even have a Frunk release button on your Sync screen now.

Hello there - Could someone give me a report on what updates I am missing for my GT as I am headed to the dealership next week.

2021 Mach-E GT

Also, does anyone know if this is a "Job 1" car as I think this was one of the first GTs off the line in 2021.

Thank you!
