I have been getting this error along with front camera fault lately. It will go away within 15 minutes.
The strange thing is that it would happen in the same location every day. Now that has changed, it is totally random.
I can hit the camera button when the fault is showing and the camera is working. This would almost have to be a software fault.
Anyone?

The camera the fault is referring to is the one on the windshield behind the rearview mirror. The camera that you see when you press the button is the one above the front grille. There are many reports of issues with the coax cable(s) that run from the windshield camera, across the headliner, and down the A-pillar.

Interesting. That explains it.

you *may* be able to resolve this yourself....
- pop off the plastic cover above the rearview mirror (5 clips)
- gently wiggle, push and rotate the mini-coax connector to minimize strain
- pop the cover back on

Funny how this took two years and 40k miles to develop.

Everything--everything mechanical or electrical, at some point--will fail.

the mini-coax connectors are REALLY fragile and sensitive to twisting/strain. I suspect mine was tweaked when the windsheild recall re-glue was done, and took a while and a lot of vibration before it developed the occasional bad contact.

I pulled the cover, tweaked around the connector a little, and haven't had another error.

This worked a treat for me, went from getting the error before even leaving the driveway to not having it come up once since I did this 6 weeks ago.
