This is a purely un-scientific poll and simply based on what you THINK with the experience you have had.

For me, after 9 days at the dealer (and the dealer sucks) and all of the software issues, I don't have faith that Ford can make the Mach E right.
The display is sluggish, the random errors are mind boggling (drive mode) and no complaints would be complete without PAAK.
The hatch randomly stops when you close it, key fob, foot kick or button on the hatch.

I plan on moving on but I don't know what to get next.

Don't crucify me. Just answer the poll and lets chat about it.

I have not had any issues with my MME other than a few oddball design decisions, some screwy software issues, the ever-present possibility of an HVBJB failure, and the 5 second limit. None of those are really reliability issues (poor engineering and design yes, but not a reliability issue). I don’t see any of the properly engineered stuff failing during its normal life cycle. So, I voted for above average. ?‍♂?

I'm fine with the vehicle reliability overall, but I don't trust a lot of the bells and whistles added on. But if they break, I don't care, I just won't use them. I mean, seriously, who uses PAAK after the first time it goes bad on you? Ford needs to nail down all the EV parts (battery, distribution, motor, charging hardware) before it adds stupid, unnecessary 'cool' features.

My only concern is if I lose some feature that I use gets taken out with some other error, like a camera error taking out cruise control. Seriously, Ford software engineers suck at their job.

I agree that the display is sluggish, especially in my perception coming from being on a 120 fps gaming pc/monitor most of the time, but things are still reliable for me to get from point a to b, while satisfying some luxuries

I don't expect Toyota reliability, but I don't really mind, because this car should be capable of getting me to where I need to go in a timely enough manner, whereas Toyota's EV couldn't. I expect technical issues, and possibly even a HVBJB failure despite driving like a Prius driver, because this is still really new tech. However, it seems Ford is at least making some efforts to listen to its customers, and I can't say that of Toyota. So I am prepared for reliability issues, should they happen, but right now at least, I think the car is worth it. We will see if I feel the same in a year, or a few years.

I don't know what Toyota reliability means.....I had a 2009 Prius for about 10 months, the only non Ford I've owned.....when Toyota had the "runaway" acceleration, what I was provided by Toyota was certainly not reliability.....service was no go, only seemed interested in getting something else to charge me for than to fix the problem.....I found their service to be far below what I was used to getting at the Ford dealer I go to.......I traded in the Prius as soon as I could get a 2010 Fusion hybrid......

Of course, what I experienced may be one dealer, but the way corporate Toyota explained the "runaway" acceleration was totally unacceptable for me.....just my opinion

After 22 months and 23,000 miles we have our first issue (next track button on steering wheel is sticking) so overall I would assume this is going to be very reliable. When we purchased ours we did purchase a full coverage warranty to match the powertrain from Ford as it was a concern being the first next generation EV from Ford. We may be lucky (this is our 3rd Plug-in from Ford) and we have only had 2 warranty repairs and 3 recall items in 7 years across 3 vehicles.

I will say though this is so subjective. I mean complaints of laggy touch screens, has anyone used the Toyota, Honda or GM systems? This is light years ahead in terms of responsiveness. It is behind Tesla in responsiveness but that is one. Manufacturer compared to the whole industry. And as proof that it is subjective I have rented through Turo on business trips 17 Teslas all over the US (all ‘21 or newer) since getting the Mach-E. Every single one had problems, mostly significant problems. (Which is why we are really happy on the Mach-E)

Finally as a note as well, vehicles are now becoming computers. It is time we give The car the same leniency of an iPhone when PAAK does not work perfect or the lift gate does something strange, or whatever. These are inconvenient and software related, any software will not be 100%. Even if PAAK is 99% accurate on a daily commute with a break for lunch that means almost 11 PAAK failures per year. (Let alone the question of what is the use case of the failure, maybe it was the phones fault.)

I had major paint issues on the plastic roof panels and spoiler. While fixing that, dealer added a rattle on the b-pillar that I can live with, but not happy about. I don’t trust the dealer network at all, so once anything happens to the vehicle (warranty or not), I’m selling.

It is subjective. I get that. My Wife's 2018 Prius display is NOT sluggish. We have a 2010 & 2018 and outside of my 2000 Trans Am which has been super reliable, they are next.
Me, not a Toyota fan unless it's a Prius.

These software issues are just bugs. I would not categorize them into reliability. The system for the car is very complex, it is not surprising there are some bugs. I measure reliability on repair bills. Battery replacement being the biggest concern. Motor replacement the second. Then parts like AC units, Charger units, center screen, etc. My bumper to bumper warranty is about to expire soon. Not sure if I want to keep it after 100K after the battery warranty is gone. Will see if any repair bills come up before then. So far nothing has broke yet. Too bad the used price of MME is like free falling rock. Makes no sense to trade it in for others cars now.

The biggie is the HVBJB issue. Mine spent a month 1000 miles from home on a road trip to get that fixed last year, which was a major hit. But other than that it's just been minor stuff.

Mine has 43k miles on it now (mostly road trips). My last few ICE vehicles were even more reliable in their first 43k miles (nothing nearly as bad as the HVBJB issue), so by that measure it's worse. But I suspect the next 100k miles will flip that around and be more reliable. It's around the 80k+ range where ICE often starts having more issues.

How do you measure reliability, what is the average we're comparing to, and does my opinion really make a difference here? What I will say is that the grass isn't always greener, especially in greener fields like the EV industry.

I'm just after opinions, not facts. I have read the facts and still think they are off. Mines a hot mess of issues.

If it doesn't do what is expected, it's a reliability issue. Screen reboots while you drive or just goes blank for minutes at a time. That's a reliability issue. Who wants the car to half reboot while you drive?
