Sure it’s personal, but it’s a pretty common opinion.

FWIW, I actually hope the Y redesign looks better. Literally ANY shape or form to it would help.

It looks like those blobs of clay they use to design cars, but they forgot to put any details on the blob.

Maybe they will surprise us both and figure out what’s uglier than a Cybertruck.
As an aspiring designer, I have a theory. That size and detailing have an inverse relationship when it comes to making something attractive. In other words, as a product grows in size, it needs more details/design elements to look right.

Tesla is taking the Apple approach to design. Making something look simple. It works for a phone because a phone is small. But on a car, it just looks like something is missing. There's all this blank space with uninspired surfacing.

Not talking about the future roadster vapor ware.
Vapor ware is exactly right. You can reserve a Tesla roadster for $50K upfront via wire transfer with no promise of delivery date on their website lol ?

The shape of Model Y is designed to reduce drag vs Mach-E designed to look pretty. I never knew this till you all decided to chime in with your Tesla hate :) , but there’s quite a difference between the two: MY: 0.23 and MME: 0.30. MME has one of the highest in the modern EV market (SUVs and sedans). Which is why we need 25% larger battery and 400 lbs more weight. Just look at how drastically different the two front ends look side by side (pretty one is mine :cool: ).

Worth it.

We can travel just as far at 75 mph and look good doing it.

I also wear a suit at work instead of sweatpants.

The Mach-E does not have a 25% bigger battery:

Model Y AWD standard battery: 67.6 kWh (estimated)
Mach-E AWD standard battery: 75.7 kWh (70 kWh usable)

The Mach-E does not have a 25% bigger battery:

Model Y Long range is 81, Mach-E Extended range is 100. Based on 3rd grade math, that’s 25%.

By number 1 - I mean in sales.

There is a TON of competition coming in. IMO Tesla is at their peak market share now, the pendulum is swinging the other way.

I think the answer is Tesla will decline in sales due to competition. They're not big enough to move, build, and create as the other massive manufacturers with billions at their disposal. I think also Tesla realizes this as they are aggressively pricing their cars, and trying to cover as much ground as possible now.

The heat is being turned up.

Competition is a great thing.

Super interesting to see where this market is going.
This is my take.

The MS/MX will not be able to compete with the the Euro luxury brands.

The M3/MY are their bread and butter but they will struggle to compete with the cheap foreign offerings which are coming.

Cybertruck is still vaporware. Will it be insignificant when it finally comes to market and competes against 4(?) other options?

Their market share is only going down IMO.

OK, now I have to ask... Why is the coefficient of drag for the MME the same as that of the ID Buzz? I think what makes cars aerodynamic is way over my head.

Unlike you, I don’t live on a racetrack. I live in the real world where pot holes, bumps and speed traps are all over. Mach-E is needlessly heavy and bouncy as fuck. But you enjoy.
