As an aspiring designer, I have a theory. That size and detailing have an inverse relationship when it comes to making something attractive. In other words, as a product grows in size, it needs more details/design elements to look right.Sure it’s personal, but it’s a pretty common opinion.
FWIW, I actually hope the Y redesign looks better. Literally ANY shape or form to it would help.
It looks like those blobs of clay they use to design cars, but they forgot to put any details on the blob.
Maybe they will surprise us both and figure out what’s uglier than a Cybertruck.
Tesla is taking the Apple approach to design. Making something look simple. It works for a phone because a phone is small. But on a car, it just looks like something is missing. There's all this blank space with uninspired surfacing.
