You are aware of course that Tesla is more valuable than these companies combined, right? Even with the recent drop in stock price, it is worth $750B.
The value of Ford, GM, VW, or Toyota is immaterial.
What matters is what a bank or banks values Tesla.

So you’re Ford and have $20B in cash. You go to the bank and ask for $750B to do a leveraged buyout?

On paper, for now.

But it also explains why none of the other companies mentioned will buy Tesla.
Not on paper. If you invest in an s&p fund, 2% of your money is invested in Tesla stock at the current valuation. It’s very real.

It might be a real number, but it’s nowhere near a fair evaluation. Hasn’t been for years. It trades like a tech startup when it’s really a manufacturing company.

But again, no major company would buy it at that price. They couldn’t afford to even if they wanted to.

For that money you could own Berkshire Hathaway.

In 3 to 5 years, as Tesla's profit margin declines as bev competition increases it would not be surprising that Musk sells Tesla. What company or companies have the resources?
Ford, GM, VW, Toyota.....
Don't laugh, the purchase makes sense to all 4 mentioned. Just think about it for a minute and you will come up with multiple issues this purchase solves for Ford, GM, VW, & Toyota.
I think some Chinese company will eventually buy Tesla. Their manufacturing is mostly in China, their sales are mostly in China, their loans are mostly Chinese. It makes little sense for Tesla to have manufacturing elsewhere, especially when the market share is shrinking.
