I see, first you compared this installation to "my local supermarket that has a pair of Blink CHAdeMO", while this installation has an order of magnitude more chargers, at higher charging rate, makes and stores it's own electricity. You're the one claiming this is marketing shenanigans, hyperbole, and BS. However, when challenged you deflect the conversation and try to act like you didn't really say what you said. Problem is, it's all right here in this thread.
You do understand the difference building something and getting someone to publish an article about that? I've already agreed that the scale of this project is impressive. I also said that I hope they succed. I am not disagreeing with you on facts. What else do you want? My comment about supermarket was a facetious response to claim that this was (I am paraphrasing) revolutionary to have other businesses next to charging stations. The CHAdeMO chargers next to the supermarket are never used (for several reasons), and are a bit of a joke.

You've been here in this forum for a month. We pride ourselves on getting our facts straight. We also own up to mistakes when we make them. Honesty and trustworthiness go a long way here.
True, I joined recently, though I've been lurking for months. I stand by my opinion. Opinions are subjective by their nature, and different people can see things differently. There is no need to imply that I am lying. If you disagree with me, I am ok with that.

I'm not implying that you are lying at all -- only that you are claiming Gridserve's statements of being the first of their kind is hyperbole, BS, and marketing shenanigans. However, you have provided absolutely no evidence they are anything but the first of their kind in the UK. If you have evidence to back up your claims, I'm all ears.

Let the Brits enjoy their first electric only service station. It's simply smashing! And I hope we'll soon build some here, too.

These are not details worth fighting over. I hope that when we get our cars, we'll spend more time thinking about drive in movie plans and less time typing on here.

I object to not being able to post to the Mach-e forum while driving my Mach-e! This is an essential feature of any BEV. :p

I think the Gridserve idea is great! I also would love to see a chain of something similar throughout North America.

Agreed. I'm jealous! I don't know of anything comparable here in the US, either. I'm guessing something like it exists in CA but maybe not. There is certainly nothing like it here in the DC area.

Some photos of the service station in use. I hope this becomes ubiquitous. I forgot it does have a post office.

I think the clue is right there in the title: "Britain's first electric-only service station".......no petrol or diesel sold there.
Hasn't Ionity been there for years? I thought they were mostly standalone DCFC chargers? Tesla Superchargers too?

A "service station" is more than just fuel pumps. It is a place to rest, eat, drink, and sleep.

Apparently Ionity stations don't provide all these services.

Semantics, I guess. Maybe it's a British language thing.

To me chargers with facilities onsite is still just charges with facilities onsite. I guess they mean what we often call a travel center. Surprised there were never any of those in the UK before.

Ionity commissioned their first Uk charging site in May 2019 and aim to have 15 sites by the end of this year. Many are located on old motorway service stations and others at standalone sites. The average number of units at each location is 4. They are expensive unless you have a subscription and Ionity provide no other facilities. They are however fast. Tesla do have many sites but again have not developed the infrastructure but piggy backed on other facilities much as many DCFC companies do.

Didn't we just recently get our first electric-only travel center in the US? And it's small and only for Tesla customers, right? (Only a Tesla driver will even get a code to open the door.)

??? Hasn't DCFC always been considered L3 charging?
Not that I am aware of. There is a standard for DCFC Level 3 but to my knowledge no manufacturer has produced a vehicle that can charge at that speed. Right now we just have DCFC in Level 1 and Level 2. Same for AC charging here in North America.

Not sure what they have for AC charging in Europe though.....?
