I don't think you will be able to smooth out the metal. The rear quarter panel will likely need to be replaced along with the taillight assembly and the bumper cover. I would be surprised if it came in under $2k.
Noooooooooo!

That rear quarter repair should be dead easy by a good panel beater.

The replacement of the quarter is a massive job by comparison, far more metalwork than just reshaping the panel.

new light and a good bodyshop should repair plastic bumper.

It depends, if you're gonna make an insurance claim it costs what it costs. I would guess $2,000 to $2500

I have a local pointless guy who is a wizard and he could get that dent out

I knocked my wife’s bike over and it put a small dent in my door. $1,300 to fix. I am just going to let it be as always a chance someone will slide into me one of the winters as our roads are icy for 6 months. My guess is closer to $3k
PDR. I had a dent in my trucks door and had about the same estimate to fix. PDR $200.00 and he fixed 2 more smaller dents in the hood and another door for that price. I didn’t think the one on the hood could be fixed because of where it was. I was wrong.

You can not tell the dents were ever there.

Good to know. My hubby put a small dent (I mean SMALL dent) in our passenger door- $1600 quoted to fix. I was amazed; thought that someone could use a hail dent tool to just ā€œpop outā€ the dent. Noooooo, I’m told they will need to take the dent down to the metal, apply filler, and repaint. WTH? Am I being scammed?

I'm guessing that quote came from a body shop, not a PDR person? Google to find some PDR services near you.

Yeah, body shops are expensive. A lot of the traditional methods they use are time-consuming. The vandalism that happened to my car's front bumper was estimated at $2500-$3500. I got a mobile dent repair company to fix it for less than my deductible. Lesson learned for me: Look for a Paintless Dent Removal or Mobile Body Shop for small stuff. ??

I love this forum! Just googled paintless dent removal vendors in my town and found some with great reviews - looking at $200-$250 I think.

Yep. Will call next week. Funny thing is that DentX was the place recommended to me by my Ford dealership. They seemed nice enough, but good grief. Wasn’t expecting $1600 for a little paint transfer and a small dent. I used Dawn dish detergent and a gentle sponge to remove 98% of the paint (hard to even see it now) so I think a PDR will get me to a good place.

ā€œIā€ know it’s there (just about kills me to know) but I can live with this if the dent is fixed. Only had the MME 2 weeks when it happened.

I think not. In my case they also have to remove and replace the black panels at the bottom of the door.
