Are you the first person on your block or in your neighborhood to purchase an EV? Or the first person in your circle of family and friends?

There are a few folks in my neighborhood with hybrids and I think there is a hybrid on my block but no one with an EV that I'm aware of. Granted we all have garages and come and go from our homes at all hours so it's impossible to know for sure I suppose.

As far as I know I am the first on my block at least to have an EV. I think there may be a Tesla or 2 in the neighborhood at large but am not certain. One of my sisters has a Corolla hybrid but I'm the first one with an all electric vehicle in the family too.

I'm guessing this thread may not apply to many on this forum since a lot of folks on here seem to be from California where EVs are way more prevalent or have more than one EV themselves. I know my buddy in Cali has had an EV for years and currently has 2 with a pending order for a CT (for some reason lol).

So here's the real question...If you are the EV pioneer of the block do you also find yourself playing the same mental game that I do these days called "Who's next?"?

With the increasing percentage of new vehicle purchases going to EVs, I'm just waiting to see which one of my neighbors is the next to join the club and what they end up getting?

So far it's been 4+ months and the game continues. There have been a couple of false alarm EV visitors that have been spotted briefly but no one yet that I have seen with a New EV. I'm sure it's just a matter of time now however.

On my block of my street, yes. However, that was in 2017 when we bought our first Leaf. More and more EVs that I know of in my neighborhood although the growth is slow.

Circle of friends? No. Family, yes.
I've also had family and friends buy EVs in recent years who were very excited to tell me when they did, so I do think my EVangelism has paid off.

My block has a few hybrids (including our Highlander), but as far as full EVs go, it's hard to say who was first. Within about a month of when I got my MME, one neighbor got a Volvo EV, and another got a Hyundai EV. I ordered mine several months before either of those showed up, but I think at least one of them appeared a couple of weeks before my MME. I have no idea whether they ordered or bought off the lot. But it's interesting that the first 3 EVs that appeared on my block did so within the course of a handful of weeks, without any coordination between the parties that I know of!

Another thing that is interesting is that Teslas are a dime a dozen around here, but all of the EVs on my block are from other brands...

There were already a bunch of Teslas in my cul-de-sac and a BMW EV when I reserved my MME. I was the first Ford BEV, but not even close to being the first BEV. There are also several PHEVs in the cul-de-sac. ?‍♂?

First on my street.

My immediate neighbors think I am crazy for having not one but two EV. Despite seeing me who has similar driving habits to them not have any issues for the past two years, they have no interest in owning an EV because an EV will not fit their driving habits.

There were many Tesla and Leaf in the neighborhood before I got the Bolt. There are now several non Tesla/Leaf EVs other than me.

I generally see a MME out and about while driving every couple days. Someone nearby has bought a Hummer EV because I have seen it the last three days.

A neighbor beat me for a Mach-E by 2 weeks or so. We ordered about the same time and he came to rub it in my face when he got it first lol. But I got the GTPE a few weeks later and rubbed it in his face too ?. There were already a couple of Teslas and a VW iD4 by the time we even ordered them.

I live in rural California where everyone has at least 5 acres of land, so no neighborhood to speak of and I highly doubt anyone near me has an EV. My closest neighbor has a 21yo son who's friends drive by in their lifted diesels and blow their aftermarket train horns. I actually find it amusing and it reminds me of the crazy shit I did to my trucks when I was that age.

No one else in my family has an EV, including parents, grandparents, cousins, etc.

Yes, first on the block, nor has anyone to my knowledge bought a BEV or hybrid. No, to family and friends going EV.

Your comment about family got me thinking. I think that I am the only one in my extended family (siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins) who has a BEV. I know there are several hybrids and a few PHEVs, but I can’t think of any other BEVs. Strange, given the number of relatives I have. ?‍♂?

I was the first EV owner on my block. Now there are 4 (fortunately, only one is a Tesla!). I was also the first battery electric lawn mower owner on my block. Now there are 9! Yay for a cleaner and quieter block!
I should have mentioned that all of my lawn care equipment is now electric as well. Including a 54” zero turn mower. I see quite a few electric trimmers and blowers, but no other mowers.

First in my neighborhood

but that's been over 2 years and since then at least half a dozen others have appeared. (Tesla, ID4, various Kias,)

Only one in my extended family that has an EV so far.

We are the first on the block not including a Model 3 on one strip in the multiple subdivisions. I only saw that Model 3 (for an EV) for a long while until Tesla has the price cuts. Now there are many MYs. People (around here) only bought MMEs for tax credit and sold/traded at around 4k miles.

I live in San Francisco, so yeah, no chance of being the first. In fact we had a neighbor (has since moved away) who had the original Tesla roadster. Pretty hard to beat that. There are gobs of BEVs and PHEVs and such on our block and in our neighborhood.

There was an MME in the neighborhood a month or two before I got mine, but I'd already ordered mine by then, so it wasn't an influence. But a friend bought an MME before and that was definitely an influence. There are several other MMEs in the neighborhood now too.

As for family, I'm the first AFAIK.
