Maybe they’ve found a limitation with MY21s and have paused rollout to our vehicles?

If 6.4 is a steering module update, that would seem to make sense for BC 1.3-1.4 (I have a feeling we’ll get 1.4).
What in Ford’s announcement that we’ll get 1.3 gives you a feeling we’ll skip to 1.4?

No way, 1.4 was still experimental a couple months ago when Farley tested it, so there's no way they would have it ready for deployment that fast. We're talking 6+ months minimum for a release. 1.3 is what we're going to get because they've already dragged it out for months.

I want to shut down the talk about BlueCruise 1.4 right now before this gets any more off topic.

2024 vehicles might ship with 1.4, that would be the soonest anybody could get their hands on it. It always goes on production cars first long before it comes out to the rest of us as an OTA.

I have to say "Wow". I have a 2021 MME Job 1 RWD ER signed up for EA, and I have 6.4.0! I got it on 10/15 and did not have to use OTA.

In my case I got 6.1.0 via OTA on October 10th. I did an APIM update (6.2.0) the next day via FDRS. I had the SCCM update (6.4.0) show up in FDRS, so I did it yesterday. I am just missing the TCU update (6.3.0).

Nothing from their announcement.
Are you saying that their announcements are gold standard, set in stone?
I just said I have a feeling, because:
- There isn’t a lot of rhyme or reason to Ford’s release version sequencing.
- From my understanding, they’ve had 1.2, 1.3, and they’ve had 1.4 in development long enough to have it testing in the field, with the CEO no less. They’re not going to give the CEO something half-baked or remotely dangerous. For all the work and updates they’re doing now, I don’t think they’ll want to go through it all again for a 1.4 release that’s far enough along that it’s already been in the field, testing. https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/jim-farley-testing-bluecruise-1-4-in-lighting.30102/
- They’ve already missed a Summer release (which I think was the initial plan). We’re into fall, which gives them all kinds of time beyond their original goal to finish 1.4 and push it out instead.
- From the legendary mind of Mr. Scott, comes the Scotty Principle. If something will take an hour, tell the captain 2. That way you look like a miracle worker. Under promise and over deliver. Tell them they’re getting 1.3, but give them 1.4. Now they look like their on top of things and delivering more than promised.

But again, it’s all just a feeling.
No secret info.
No promises.
No guarantees.

We're talking 6+ months minimum for a release.
Well, 1.3 has been out (in 2023’s) more than 6 months.
The work that’s been done since then has primarily been updating the modules/hardware in the ‘21’s and ‘22’s to get them ready. Admittedly that may mean a smaller triage team of developers may need to make some tweaks to 1.3 to make it compatible with those models, but that’s not primary code development. If there were significant changes to 1.3 to make it work on those cars, it would probably warrant a 1.35 version, which I highly doubt.

That should mean that the BlueCruise team has been working on 1.4 a good bit longer than 6 months.
Plus, they’re not going to put half-baked software, with safety considerations on a car that the CEO is driving. Want to know how to get fired in software development? Put the CEO in a car that could kill him. That would be a pretty obvious way.

I want to shut down the talk about BlueCruise 1.4 right now before this gets any more off topic.
Shut down?
@Mach-Lee, you want to shut things down? Sounds pretty aggressive for casual online conversation amongst friends…. if not, oddly defensive.

AGAIN, I said that all I had was a feeling about 1.4. If there are MachEForum censors that want to prevent feelings and hunches from being shared, well, that’s a lot of posts to be pulled down, and it would mean significantly less user participation and traffic.

Yeah, it’s weird that people can’t even speculate. Even though I agree that 1.3 is the BlueCruise update that will be coming, we shouldn’t become Ford Police over someone speculating about something else.

This is my fear and I didn’t want to put that out into the universe

I’d be fine and happy with 1.3.
That said, my project management, software development, version/release/change management brain just tells me that, in the interest of time and efficiency, if 1.4 is as close as it probably is, that’s what I’d release.

And, @Mach-Lee, I hope you don’t want “shut down” ? another feeling or hunch, but they may also be trying to include the BlueCruise update in a broader roll-out that includes the Sync UI updates we saw in the F-150 Lightning Platinum Black that they released recently showed us.

OH NO! HOW DARE I!?
ANOTHER HUNCH…
STOP ME NOW BEFORE HURT SOMEONE!?
THE TRAIN IS COMING OFF THE TRACKS!
THE TRAIN IS COMING OFF THE TRACKS!

I expect (have a feeling ?) that BC1.3 will be the last BC update for '21-'23 Mach-E's. At some point hardware improvements are required.

Yes, the Mach E is supposed to be refreshed in 2025, which I assume will roll alongside project T3. Then, they will have more powerful hardware to reach L3 ADAS systems. However, this is not our last BC update. Jim Farley has previously stated that BlueCruise 1.4 is being beta-tested and that they would like to add a couple of new features to BlueCruise on top of the already announced ones.
