Be honest, how many times to you press an elevator button?
Fewer times than I check my car / go for “update drives” ???

No chance.
Wow, @generaltso. You’re very confident.
I just had a feeling (that apparently got under yours and @Mach-Lee’s skin).

Good rule of thumb is to not traffic in absolutes, but you seem 100% certain of something, with no room for changes, updates, acts of nature, or any error. Do you know, for certain, something that we don’t?

Are you 100% sure that Ford has stopped changing plans with their software and firmware ever?

Are you 100% certain that management will not change their mind and release something else? I mean, management NEVER changes their mind.

Are you 100% certain when the update will be released?

Maybe you’re 100% certain what updates will be included? Will it just be 1.3 or will they update more modules? Maybe they’ll make changes to Sync? Does your 100% certainty include that information?

I mean Ford has indicated timelines for lots of releases that they couldn’t make. I don’t even think Ford Is 100% certain about when they’ll release what from one day to the next, and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s part of software development.

But you seem to know something that Ford and nobody else knows?

I have to say "Wow". I have a 2021 MME Job 1 RWD ER signed up for EA, and I have 6.4.0! I got it on 10/15 and did not have to use OTA.

In my case I got 6.1.0 via OTA on October 10th. I did an APIM update (6.2.0) the next day via FDRS. I had the SCCM update (6.4.0) show up in FDRS, so I did it yesterday. I am just missing the TCU update (6.3.0).

Code:
DA01 Assembly LB5T-3F944-DE LB5T-3F944-DG
F110 P_II_Sp DSLB5T-3F944-AB DSLB5T-3F944-AF
F188 Strategy LJ8T-14C579-AB PZ8T-14C579-BA
I only know of one 2021 that (presumably) received an update beyond 6.1.0 via OTA. Hence, I’m still suspecting a pause for 2021s

Yes, the Mach E is supposed to be refreshed in 2025, which I assume will roll alongside project T3. Then, they will have more powerful hardware to reach L3 ADAS systems. However, this is not our last BC update. Jim Farley has previously stated that BlueCruise 1.4 is being beta-tested and that they would like to add a couple of new features to BlueCruise on top of the already announced ones.
Just because Jim Farley is testing 1.4 does not mean that any version of BlueCruise beyond 1.3 will be compatible with existing vehicles. In fact, I’m beginning to suspect that they may have come across an issue with 2021s and it’s quite possible that 2021s may not see 1.3. ?‍♂

I think if it is an issue it might be with storage or memory. All the Mach-Es have the same setup for the ADAS hardware. The primary issue might be that all the updates the 2021s have gotten thus far are eating up the storage/memory or something of the sort. I am just really guessing.

6.4.0 downloaded but wouldn’t install. Seems ~65% LVB SOC wasn’t enough. Went for a drive and returned with 84% LVB SOC. Installed then without issue.

I’m going crazy. Checking my car 5 times a day with nothing.
To be fair your car checks every time you go for a drive, so you may be checking more than 5 times. Going to the software update screen does nothing.

I expect (have a feeling ?) that BC1.3 will be the last BC update for '21-'23 Mach-E's. At some point hardware improvements are required.
I think you may be right, to a point.

The current, Gen 1, EV’s use modules from a crazy number of different companies. One of the main problems that they have with software development, now, is that anything they do involves different code, licenses, and permissions from each module manufacturer, making things ridiculously and needlessly complex.

In Ford’s Gen 2 cars, they plan to follow Tesla’s model and bring module development and manufacture in-house so they can control all of those variables. The first of these cars will probably be the second generation Mach-E, the 3-Row SUV and the T3 truck that will be built at the new Blue Oval City plant in Tennessee.

Understanding that, it does not make economic or manufacturing sense to change Gen 1 hardware before Gen 2 cars come out.

Current versions of BlueCruise 1.0-1.4 are written for Gen 1 cars and their multi-maker modules. How do I know this about 1.4? I cannot be 100% certain, but I am pretty confident of this because Jim Farley (Ford CEO) took a roadtrip, just over 2 months ago in an F-150 Lightning with BlueCruise 1.4 and it’s highly unlikely that was a T3 test mule because:
1. It’s a bit early in development to put a CEO in a test mule for safety reasons, among others.
2. The roadtrip was highly publicized and you don’t want a test mule breaking down in that situation.
3. The truck did not have a Tesla/NACS charging port on it because he complained about CCS charging.

Ford has said that they will incorporate the Tesla/NACS charging port on cars in 2025, so I think that is the earliest they make hardware changes. I’m not sure if that means 2025 will be significant changes to Gen 1 cars, or it will be the release of Gen 2 cars.

So, yes, you are right. BlueCruise will come to a point that new versions with new features will require new hardware, but I think it makes logical sense that this will happen sometime after 1.4.

We were there at one of the stops Jim Farley made on his Lightning Road Trip. He was pretty clear and his staff reiterated that he was not driving 1.anything. It was an internal test version with no designated version number but it did have lane changes and in-lane repositioning. Lightnings are on BC 1.0 so his version might have been a hodgepodge of 1.2 and 1.3.

What we are getting on the Mach-E in the next few weeks is BlueCruise 1.3. I don't think we need to "shutdown" talk about 1.4, but it would be more useful to start a new thread about that specific topic. I'm sure there are many like me that are browsing thes 6.x.0 threads to see if people are having any issues and who is getting the particular updates. And of course, we're all trying to see what changes each PowerUp is making -- especially since the release notes haven't been great.

Don’t be so sure of that. Driving cars with prototype hardware and software is something that comes with the job. Also, Farley races cars, which can be pretty dangerous. Finally, just because it LOOKS like an F-150 doesn’t mean that all the hardware inside is normal, production stuff. Back when I was a kid, I had the opportunity to ride in Ford “test cars” a few times. You wouldn’t have known anything was different about them from the outside. When you got into the car, it was a different story.

How many of these "getting ready" updates could we possibly need? Get on with the actual updates already!!
it's nomenclature... these are all incremental updates to enable 1.3... they (for whatever reason) do not just one massive update but do it module by module
