Do any here put Nitrogen in your MME tires ?

I know the owner of a Tire shop company. They have about 10 locations.

In the past when I got my tires from him, they always did nitrogen for me.

what are your thoughts?

I know Costco does and a few dealerships. They say it maintains pressure in hot and cold temperatures

There are some marginal benefits you'd likely never realize. Dealers try to add it to the purchase because it's pure profit...I wouldn't be surprised if most dealers don't even actually add the nitrogen. (BTW, the atmosphere is already mostly nitrogen as you probably know...)

This is primarily because the nitrogen comes from compressed gas cylinders and are completely dry. You can get the same benefit from a compressor with a dehumidifier or a high pressure air storage system.

All of the top four gaseous components (N2, O2, Ar, and CO2) have very similar compressibility, so heat has very little effect.

Water vapor can be up to 4% in air by volume. Water vapor is highly compressible. This is the biggest reason nitrogen fills maintain their pressure better with temperature variations. Dry air gives you pretty much the same benefit.

I can get it done for free from my friends shop. Thing is his closest location is 17 miles away from my house and since I retired I don’t drive past it twice a day like I used to.

It’s not convenient like it used to be to get it done.

I wanted to make sure that it was okay if I decided to do it.

My tires are filled with Helium. It makes the car levitate a bit and you get extra range. Provides offset for the extra cookies I consume at Panera.

"better" but not a flat PSI. Mine still drop 3 psi over night and 'gain' 2 psi or more on the freeway. That's ~5psi swing. With just air I was seeing maybe 6 or 7 psi swing daily. I mostly used it to try to keep it closer to where I wanted it.

A shop guy at Costco was nice enough to inform me that if I let out about 1/2 the air in my tire, used the nitrogen fill to fill it back up then 1/2 down again and fill it back up it's 'pretty close' to them vac'ing out the air and filling it. (It really depends on how much moisture you end up with in the tire.) In PHX we dream of moisture and watch documentaries that show other places have this phenomenon.

N is heavier than O so cant you park in a way so the valve is at the 12:00 position therefore when you let out the air it is mostly O and not N?
