I have a TOU plan with my electric provider. Between 4 PM and 9PM is peak time so my charges are way higher during those times. I get home at 5:30PM. If I plug in when I get home the car immediately starts charging.

Why does the car charge when I already programmed it to not charge during walk time.
Really trying to understand the purpose of setting charge times if it doesn’t work.

any advice is appreciated.

Are you using a Level 1 (120V) charger?

In the app, under preferred charge times, do you have it selected to charge when plugged in or use preferred charge settings?

Yes until I can get my electrician out to put in a 50 amp breaker and 8 gage wiring.
Since your car can not reach the level you have set (90%) on level 1, it charges outside of the times. Try reducing the 90% to reachable level. Figure 1 kWh per hour. You have a 20 hour window, so 20 kWh, max. That’s less than 30% of a SR battery.

That would be why then. 9PM-4PM is not enough time for the car to reach 90%, so then charging will start immediately.

You'll have to manually mange it by plugging in late until the L2 charger can be installed, then it will work normally.

Or lower the SoC target to a level achievable in the time window.

Mine has never worked properly. It was always a lottery when I woke up if it had charged at all. For about 6 months I complained to Ford. It went back 5 times and they said there was nothing wrong with the car.
I get all the stuff about not reaching the charge in the time it has been set and I set knowing that it would. Fords answer was to use my Zappi time settings which is what I do. I don’t know what it will charge to but I know it will charge in the right times with the cheap electricity.
not great service from Ford as they just gave up. I sent them many images of the settings on FP and car.

A related question after learning that it is better to avoid charging right away after a drive. Let it rest and charge in an hour or 2.

My car has 65%, I have L2 charging at home, and I want to set a deferred charging time to get to my default, 85%.

I set a home start time of 9pm, ending at 4,5,or 6am. Regardless of the end time, after pressing save, my Fordpass app shows the new weekday change for a second or two, and then it reverts to ANYTIME. I tried to delete my home location, but it didn't get deleted.

Is it because that's too short of a charging time to reach my target charge, even though it isn't? Six hours is plenty of time to add 20% at 32amps.

Or is the fordpass app being goofy again?
