For sure it could.The Mach E actually stands a LOT to improve. It could gain 800v architecture, high rpm motors or a 2-speed, better thermal management and wiring, etc. I think it is cars like Tesla, EV6, Taycan, etc. that won't have much to improve upon. Maybe higher energy density batteries by a few % or so. Solid State is the next industry leap, but Toyota has promised that since 2017, so...
I just don’t think it’ll change that much.
And to the point at hand, none of the tech you mentioned (except solid state) is new.
But even solid state (if we ever get it) is just an incremental change. Still suffers from all the same issues battery powered cars in the 1920s had- cost, range, weight and charging.
People keep saying to wait 3-5 years and car tech X will be obsolete. I just don’t buy into that belief.
I actually wonder a bit of “where do we go from here?”
We have 1000+ hp sedans and SUVs running 9s in the 1/4 mile for around $90k. At least in terms of performance, that doesn’t give you anywhere to go but down at this point.
