It's too good to be true for now and maybe forever. This won't work at all right now. No adapter has been approved yet and it is possible Tesla could ban 3rd party adapters.

Yep, I thought so. That said, the biggest issue I see is the cord size at the Teslas chargers. I charged up on one of the magic dock ones and it was huge hassle to get the mach e pointed right to get a charge. I wish the adapter comes with a 3-5 ft cable attached to fix this issue.

There are one or two pre sales out there for CCS to SC NACS. None will work until Tesla programs the stations. It’ll be announced. Adapters will be provided from Ford (paid or free TBD) when it’s ready. Don’t buy anything until then. Wait.

Yes, I think once Tesla activates the mache to use their superchargers, only then these would work. Most likely ford and Tesla would launch these for $500 and the others will be cheaper

One of Ford’s latest information releases made it fairly clear that the adapter would not be free. I can not remember which thread contained the information.

Have we heard any timing of the adapter? “Early 2024” as in Jan 1? Or April 30? lol

I'm sure Tesla is going to require that the adaptor have some kind of chip in it to verify that it's an approved device and also to monitor the temp. No point in buying these adaptors now.

Thinking now, isn't the magic dock already such an adapter , it separates from the NACS dock as well as the chargers, so Tesla can directly sell that to people, who could just add it in front of the NACS adaptor... What am I missing!

You‘re not missing anything. The authorized adapters will likely be very similar to the magic docks.

hmm on the A2Z site it indicates that this is a dumb device:

The NACS-CCS1 Typhoon Plug is 100% passive and has no electronics. L1 and L2 pins are crossed between the NACS and CCS1 end. NACS' ground goes directly to J1772's ground. NACS' Control Contact pin goes to J1772's Control Contact pin and the same applies to the Control Proximity pins. The adapter is quite straightforward and makes a simple conversion of plugs.

Two "so whats" here

1 - Tesla will need to activate your VIN to work in their network. having an adapter ahead of this will do no good.

2 - If the A2Z is how the adapters will really work, there is no way to stop a "third party adapter" from working on the Tesla network once your cars VIN is turned on in the Tesla network. There are no smarts in the device to tell Tesla anything about the adapter.
