My approach has been simple and 100% successful during these updates:

1. Wait until Mach E shows an update downloaded and "Update Now" is an option
2. Go for a drive
3. Plug into your L2 to charge (make sure charging times are set so charging begins right away)
4. Tell the car to Update Now
5. Turn off headlights
6. Turn off car, lock, and leave.
I'm in the same boat as most, with 4 failed 6.6.0 updates so far. I will see if we can try for this method today and report back.

Thanks, but I don’t have access to an L2 and I don’t drive enough for the battery to stay at a healthy SoC. It’s pretty difficult to revive the LVB once SoC drops. I’m inching towards 80% so we’ll see.

If you have an L1 charger that might work as well but I haven't tested that.

I am purchasing a 15 amp battery charger that I will use to recondition the battery per Lee’s instructions. Difficulty for me is I park in a deeded space with no 110 receptacles nearby. So need to sneak the car up to the car wash where there’s one and park illegally overnight. I’ll just have to bribe the doorman on duty the one night and make it work. My battery is at 81%, so will try to install in a couple of hours.

A quick update, despite many issues and multiple attempts to install, I finally did it. The LVB was at 82% when the install worked. Ending SoC after install was at 70%.

Thank you @Mach-Lee, @ChasingCoral, and others for all your help.

Good to hear. Based on our combined experiences it looks like the LVB has to be at least somewhere between 79-82%. If others had failed attempts in that range and posted it would more closely narrow down the minimum SOC needed for the update.

After a couple of failed installs of 6.6.0, I found this thread. I checked the LVB SOC and it was at 41%. No clue why / how as the car is driven daily.

Yesterday I followed @Mach-Lee 's OTA failed hints. Specifically, I followed the "Stay On" method. I verified that the LVB SOC was at 81% from my account dashboard. The car stayed on for literally HOURS. I tried updating late in the night, and it failed.

I went to bed and in the morning, I used the "Blower Charge" method for about 45 minutes. I did not check/record the LVB SOC (my apologies, this was before coffee time), but I hit the update now and this time it worked.

I just checked after the completed update the LVB SOC from the account dashboard is at 74%. I guess / assume this means that the SOC needs to be > 81%? At any rate, here is another data point, and finally after several failed attempts we are at 6.6.0.

This is a real fail for Ford. The update fails with a precondition that an average, or even savvy, user cannot realistically solve without knowing deep "inside information".

Thanks @ChasingCoral and @Mach-Lee , without you both I'm not convinced we'd have ever gotten the update to succeed!

@RMoore and @TheSteelRider : One other tidbit, @Mach-Lee suggested that since my LVB could not go any higher than 82%, I should do a BMS reset. You might want to consider that too. Instructions in the Failed OTA thread.

The good news is Ford is working to solve the LVB SOC issues. Hopefully we'll see the results of that work soon.

I had multiple 6.6.0 install fails. My LV batt was 68%. I tried the blower charge method until the battery was at 77% and the update is currently installing.

Interesting. Mine failed at 78%, so perhaps a hit and miss below 80?

Or, the website is a bit off? There are folk that claim the website is not supposed to be showing the value, so maybe it's showing an old value, or something of the sort meaning it might be a couple % off?

It certainly could, but not in my case. I left my car running all night. I wasn’t able to sleep, so was checking and refreshing constantly. The LVB was charging sooo slowly that it took 2 hours for each 1%. Agonising. And I double checked it with an OBD before trying the update. So my SoC was pretty accurate.

One thing might impact this is that Lee mentioned that my battery’s state of health was at 77%, so 78% SoC for me is likely lower than what it is for other people.

The threshold is not the same for everyone. It varies slightly based on battery aging.

The website doesn't update while the car is off unless you do a FordPass refresh first.

80% seems to be the lowest reliable level. Some cars may need slightly higher or lower.

6.6 installed overnight and then installed an available power up when I arrived at dinner after work.

On a work trip and didn’t check lvb soc. But that’s 3 OTAs in less than 1 week and 4 in about 10 days.

OK so far, other than missing frunk button. ?‍♂
