I've gotten every OTA. The ones that require shut down, locked, lights off seem to be happier if I turn the switch to OFF.
I turn my lights off and when I come back to the car they are back to auto , scary.

I haven’t had the headlights go on mysteriously in over a year even though they are set to auto.

I believe the intended behavior is that they revert to auto on startup.

From the top brass at Ford @RonTCat
Mostly because there is no way, in the current vehicle architecture, to turn off individual modules like the BCM, APIM, etc. It's all or nothing, you wake one to do an LVB charge, you wake all. It's a problem that can't be solved with a software update, it's a legacy hardware design issue.

So you basically have the car completely powered on when charging the LVB. This is a substantial drain, and you wouldn't want your car live for a few hours doing nothing but charging the LVB. If you did, the next forum topic would be "Why did my car lose 5% charge just sitting doing nothing?"

So when you are driving, LVB charging is just a small "other" HV battery drain. If you are charging, it's just an inconsequential redirect of power
OK, then I would refer @RonTCat to

a) As you alluded to and as in prior posts/suggestions, the car should activate the required systems needed to fully charge the 12-volt battery when the vehicle is plugged in and charging. The car is already charging, so an HVB drain should not be an issue.
Then just tell owners to plug in to better their likelihood of a successful update.

b) Set system locations for Home and Work. Then:
  • Approaching those locations, have the system direct/allocate more power from the HVB to charging the 12-volt battery
  • Get creative and, over-time, record common times and locations for when the car is home or at work and direct/allocate more power to the 12-volt when there is and update and at those times where the system sees a pattern that the car will be sitting and can run the update or is known to be home so it can run overnight whether plugged in or not. It’s just an algorithm.
c) Notify the owner (Email, text, and FordPass) that an update is pending and certain requirements have not been met, advise which have not been met, and provide instructions to meet them. If one is that the 12-volt needs to be charged, provide the SOC % and range cost and give the option to remotely allow the system to activate to charge it. Maybe set a minimum 50% starting SOC to allow that option.

The easiest things in the world are to say “no” or that something can’t be done.

The better thing to do is to get determined, get creative, think outside of the “we cannot” and find a way to make it a “We Can!”

At 200 KB it may be the complete new logic. That is why it took so long they needed such a large code to accomplish it ;) Power-Up another mystery.

Have no need for BC updates as we have no BC highways. Lurking in 6.6 to see if it fixes my L2 charging or if it is the software that caused it. Have one report to date that it is the cause. Expecting a tidal wave if they start delivering this to job 1 cars.

Honestly I’m not sure these OTA improve a thing lol.

I lost the welcome pony lights during one of the updates and a while back lost SoC prediction on routes in Apple Maps. Of course no more EV drive logs either on the app.

I tried to DC charge very late last night after thanksgiving dinner and only got 59 KW. It boosted as high as 104 kW a bit later but this was at 30% SoC. Not garbage EA chargers either.
