When I bought my used 21 GTPE it had a chip in the windshield. They tried to fix the chip with glue and vacuum but it did not work, in fact made it worse. So they offered to install a new windshield. Yesterday the new one was installed and when I got about a mile away from the shop with the new glass, message pops up saying "Front Camera Fault Service required". When attempting to use Cruise control, of course that doesn't work either.
The original glass was from Ford, the new one is something called Vitro Acoustech.
I asked the AutoNation glass jockey if he was going to calibrate the camera system to the new glass and he says "not necessary".
So, question - How can this be fixed - what needs to happen? Can I reset the camera system somehow? Any easy solution to this?
Prior to the new glass, Cruise control and BlueCruise were working perfectly.

And tell the AutoNation glass jockey he didn't do his job. He is supposed to calibrate it.

So what does a recalibration look like?

Look like?
Meaning what's involved in the calibration process? What could the glass jockey do to calibrate the new glass to the camera?

I believe they use equipment to do so. Someone said it costs $25k.

The glass replacement happened in a parking lot out of a mobile van, not at the dealership.

That was the previous generation which had alignment mats. Ours can self calibrate, you just drive around a parking lot with lines and on roads with lines. So you only need FDRS.

I had the windshield replaced on my used 2022 GTPE. The dealer paid for it and I had it done at Safelite using Ford OEM glass. They said they could not do the Mach e on-site, it needed to be at the shop. The tech hooked up some equipment to something, I’m guessing the obd2 connector, and went for 20 minute drive to do the calibration.

Everything worked fine after the repair.

So is it possible to have a new windshield installed and NOT need a front camera calibration?

So what does a recalibration look like?
He needs to do a dynamic calibration which includes driving the vehicle until the calibration is complete. Usually about three to five miles. Then he needs to run a post scan to make sure any associated codes are cleared.

Thanks for all the input guys. As it turns out, the Autonation glass guy broke the new windshield when he was installing it, so I'll have to go through this whole sh#t show again when the new glass arrives. I've already contacted everyone involved about the need for calibration and they're all onboard.
Another question - Anyone have an opinion about Ford windshields v. other OEM brands as it relates calibration for the MME?
