This has happened to me a couple times. Once a sync reboot fixed it, once I had to reboot the phone. Not sure if that points towards a Ford or Apple issue.

This has been happening to me, I had thought it was CarPlay as I'm now on iOS 17.2 beta 3 and have not had it happen since updating, but if @benk016 is getting similar issues with Android Auto then it probably is the MME. The only solution is to restart Sync or disconnect and reconnect CarPlay. While driving, restarting Sync is easier. No matter what else I do in Spotify - play through phone, pick the car again, close Spotify and reopen it, no dice.

I had this on iOS 17.1 but since updating to 17.2, it seems to have resolved itself. Go update your phones and hopefully that fixes it.

Has been happening to me on Android Auto as well. Seem to have started happening more often relatively recently, so could be related to a recent car update?

I no longer have to do a full sync reboot. Just hitting the power button in the volume dial to turn it off and back in brings audio back.

I've had it happen again several times in the last 2 weeks.

Over the past couple of months, this issue happened sporadically. After the most recent SYNC software updates, it's happening a little more than half the time. Is anybody else seeing an uptick in this issue?

I've still been getting this, just updated to iOS 17.4 beta and it happened yesterday on my drive home. The power button doesn't do anything, unfortunately. Even if I disconnect CarPlay via the phone (Airplane mode on and off), it doesn't work. I have to restart Sync.

I haven't seen an increase, just the same randomness of it happening.

I got an update from Ford that they have a fix for this that should be included in a "future sync update". Who knows when that'll be though.

I've had this happen several times as well. Rebooted Sync to fix usually worked. One time it didn't, so I rebooted my phone. Then remembered I was using PAAK when my car started warning me about no key while my phone was turned off... But the audio came back.

This just came out for the '24 F-150......

SSM 52344 2024 F-150 - SYNC - No Audio Output When Using Spotify™
Some 2024 F-150 vehicles may exhibit no audio output when using Spotify™. Audio output may recover with a key cycle. This may be due to the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software. Replacement or reprogramming of the APIM will not resolve this condition. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition and will be released via Ford Power-Up software updates delivered over-the-air (OTA) expected in Q3 2024. Software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the vehicle's settings. Schedule a service visit for customers who have disabled vehicle connectivity or who report that they did not receive the update in Q3 2024. Monitor OASIS for additional information.

I had that issue a few times. Most of the times resetting the Sync system will solve it. But I had cases where the audio was set to the phone instead of Carplay, you can check that on the iPhone. In some rare cases, I had to fully shut down the car, open the door, and turn it back on and the audio would be back. I had to do that a few times at a stoplight.

I experienced this issue just a couple days ago (and have on other rare occasions in the past). I reset SYNC but the phone audio was still not playing through the car speakers, so I rebooted my iPhone. Everything worked after that.

I've had this issue. What I've done is disconnect the phone from car from the phone list/menu by pressing the CarPlay icon. Then click the CarPlay icon again. Seems to work for me.
Probably not well described, sorry.

My wife and I have both had this happen. Sometimes it’ll work after driving for bit, other times we have to restart sync. It’s kind of a pain
